THE LOWDOWN

AC MILAN

It has been a season that has really declined as it has gone on for AC Milan with the pre-season expectations of mounting a sustained challenge for the title already beginning to fade. They started the season extremely well but the Rossoneri now begin the weekend sitting eight points behind their city rivals Inter at the top-of-the-table.

Stefano Pioli’s side come into this one on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw with out of form Lecce a couple of weeks ago. They have now managed just one win in their last six matches across all competitions and they are winless in their last four Serie A games. They will be desperate to put an end to this poor run of form.

FIORENTINA

Fiorentina were living up to their expectation of challenging for the top four earlier in the season but I Viola have slipped to sixth ahead of the November international break. They suffered three successive Serie A defeats but did earn a much-needed victory a couple of weeks ago, defeating Bologna by two goals to one at the Artemio Franchi.

Under the management of Vincenzo Italiano, Fiorentina have been generally very entertaining to watch but they have lacked a fair bit of fluency and consistency throughout this season, albeit they are having to deal commitments with a top four push and UEFA Europa Conference League football, too.

THE TEAM NEWS

FIORENTINA

Fiorentina have a couple of injury doubts, such as Michael Kayode and Lucas Beltran, whilst Luca Ranieri is suspended with a couple of injuries, too.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Terracciano; Parisi, Milenkovic, Martinez Quarta, Biraghi; Arthur, Duncan; Bonaventura, Nzola, Kouame; Gonzalez

UNAVAILABLE: Ranieri (Suspended), Dodo (Injured), Castrovilli (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

AC Milan are looking to steady the ship after some really average form of late but they do face a tough test as they welcome a strong Fiorentina side to San Siro. Milan are struggling with a few injuries but an impressive summer transfer window has provided them with some depth. Much like their poor form at the start of the calendar year, they simply cannot be trusted to bullishly back just now. Fiorentina, with what is essentially a formation consisting of three number nines, will go to Milan confident of scoring and we should have a fun game to watch on Saturday evening.
