WERDER BREMEN PREVIEW: PERFECT RECORD FINALLY AT AN END

Werder Bremen showed grit, determination and a true will to win last weekend as despite being reduced to ten-men, they still found a win to come out on top against Mainz away from home. After taking the lead early on from the spot, Werder were pegged back before half-time and a red card on the hour looked to have scuppered their hopes of winning.

However, the visitors had other ideas, Derrick Kohn scoring in the 69th minute before an excellent defensive display saw them withstand Mainz’s pressure to get over the line, securing a priceless three points before the visit of Bayern.

BAYERN MUNICH PREVIEW: KOMPANY’S MEN SEND MESSAGE TO REST OF GERMANY AND EUROPE

Bayern Munich are back and better than ever. That was the message send by head coach Vincent Kompany and his side this past week, after they destroyed Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, winning by nine goals to two in what was a devastating attacking display which could well have seen them reach double-figures.

Harry Kane was on the scoresheet four times, three of those being penalties and the attacking midfield behind him were formidable, with Michael Olise in particularly looking like an outstanding signing. Combine that with their nine points already gained in the Bundesliga and it’s been a great start to the campaign for the Rekordmeister.

WERDER BREMEN TEAM NEWS: FRIEDL SUSPENDED, BURKE AND NJINMAH INJURED

His red card against Mainz means that centre-back Marco Friedl misses out through suspension. Meanwhile, injuries to both winger Oliver Burke and forward Justin Njinmah means that neither will play a part in this one.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Zetterer; Malatini, Stark, Jung; Weiser, Lynen, Stage, Schmid, Agu; Topp, Ducksch

UNAVAILABLE: Burke (Injured), Friedl (Suspended), Njinmah (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Veljkovic (Injured)

BAYERN MUNICH TEAM NEWS: POTENTIAL FOR SLIGHT ROTATION

It would be no surprise if Vincent Kompany opts to make a few changes to the XI who started against Dinamo on Tuesday. The likes of Konrad Laimer Joao Palhinha and Thomas Muller could come into the side in place of Alphonso Davies, Alexander Pavlovic and Serge Gnabry.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Kim, Upamecano, Guerreiro; Kimmich, Palhinha; Olise, Muller, Musiala; Kane

UNAVAILABLE: Boey (Injured), Buchmann (Injured), Ito (Injured), Peretz (Injured), Stanisic (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Ibrahimovic (Injured)

WERDER BREMEN VS BAYERN MUNICH PREDICTION

Werder Bremen’s backline cannot be underestimated heading into this one. They already boast a clean sheet over Borussia Dortmund at home this season and it will not be easy for Bayern Munich to break them down. However, the Rekordmeister have an ace up their sleeve that Dortmund cannot match, that being Harry Kane.

Kane relentless appetite for goals continues to prove as strong as ever and it’s very difficult not to see Kane adding at least one more to his total tally for the season, which currently stands at nine goals over the course of five matches for Bayern. If the England striker does get on the scoresheet again, then it is likely to be in a Bayern Munich victory.
