WERDER BREMEN PREVIEW: HOME ISSUES A MYSTERY

Werder Bremen, with the brilliant support they generate should be making their ground a fortress and a nightmare for opposition teams to visit. However, just one point from three home Bundesliga fixtures in 2024-25 suggest the opposition. Granted their faced tough opponents such as Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Freiburg, but you’d still expect better from Werder on their own patch.

BAYER LEVERKUSEN PREVIEW: OFF THE BACK OF A HARD-FOUGHT WEEK

Bayer Leverkusen have been really challenged this past week on two fronts but have come out the other side relatively happy. Last weekend, Xabi Alonso’s side secured a massive three points with a 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, before they went on to maintain their unbeaten start to this season’s Champions League, drawing 1-1 away at Brest.

PREDICTED XI: (3-4-3): Zetterer; Malatini, Friedl, Pieper; Agu, Bittencourt, Lynen, Kohn; Weiser, Ducksch, Schmid

WERDER BREMEN VS BAYER LEVERKUSEN PREDICTION

It’s clear that Bayer Leverkusen aren’t the bankers that they were last season, especially when considering that three of their last five in all competitions have seen them fail to win. However, they remain a formidable outfit and with a largely fully fit squad should utilise the strength-in-depth they contain to their advantage. That may well wind up being what gives them the edge against a Werder side who have struggled at home in recent times. Backing an away win has to be favoured.
