THE LOWDOWN

STUTTGART

It has been a strong start to the season for Stuttgart with their quality in front of goal catching the eye. They secured a third win in their four matches to date with a win over Mainz last time out and their three goals in that game took their tally for the season to 14.

They needed to finish the game well to claim all three points after Serhou Guirassy had given them the lead with 11 minutes gone in the second half but they were pegged back with 21 remaining on the clock. However, Guirassy notched again in the closing stages before the Guinean completed his hat-trick deep into stoppage time.

DARMSTADT

Darmstadt earned their first point of the campaign as they played out a draw with Borussia Monchengladbach. It was a good result for Darmstadt but they will be desperate to claim their first win of the season and will aim to build on their point from last time out.

Darmstadt were in control of that contest and were leading 3-0 at the break thanks to goals from Marvin Mehlem, Matej Maglica and Tim Starke but Maglica’s 49th minute red card turned the game on its head as Monchengladbach did what was required to fight back and force a draw.

THE TEAM NEWS

STUTTGART

Stuttgart will be without Nikolas Nartey with a knee issue while Josha Vagnoman is also sidelined with a foot problem. Woo-Yeong Jeong remains unavailable owing to his participation in the Asian Games with South Korea and it could well be an unchanged side for Sebastian Hoeness.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Nübel; Stenzel, Anton, Zagadou, Ito; Karazor, Stiller; Silas, Millot, Führich; Guirassy

UNAVAILABLE: Jeong (International Duty), Nartey (Injured), Vagnoman (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Kastanaras (Injured)

DARMSTADT

Following his red card last time out, Maglica will serve a suspension and Fabio Torsiello is also out with a thigh injury. They also have a host of players that are doubts coming into the game which could see them forced into making several changes to their starting XI.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Schuhen; Klarer, Gjasula, Isherwood; Nürnberger, Mehlem, Holland, Kempe, Karic; Pfeiffer, Skarke

UNAVAILABLE: Maglica (Suspended), Torsiello (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Manu (Illness), Vilhelmsson (Illness), Zimmermann (Injured), Bader (Injured), Hornby (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Stuttgart can go to the top of the Bundesliga table with a win here and they are fancied to defeat Darmstadt. The visitors were on course to claim their first win of the season but had to settle for a point as they conceded three second half goals against Borussia Monchengladbach. It was still a solid point for Darmstadt but the form of Stuttgart makes them tough to overlook here and their firepower in front of goal should be too much for the away side to handle.

TIP: Stuttgart to win
