FREIBURG PREVIEW: HOSTS CONTINUE TO THRIVE UNDER SCHUSTER

Freiburg enter this latest round of Bundesliga fixtures in third-place following back-to-back wins. A hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bochum was backed up by a 0-3 triumph away at Heidenheim last weekend and it’s now three wins from four in the Bundesliga for Julian Schuster as Freiburg head coach.

This should be seen as a huge opportunity to make it 12 points from a possible 15 when taking into account St. Pauli’s struggles so far this campaign. But any complacency will need to be left firmly back in the dressing room.

ST. PAULI PREVIEW: ST. PAULI ON THE BOARD BUT STILL FIRING BLANKS

St, Pauli have endured a tough start to the campaign as you would expect from a newly promoted club. However, they may well have reached a turning point after a gutsy, fantastic showing saw them hold RB Leipzig to a 0-0 draw last Sunday. Most expected Marco Rose’s side to come out on top, but St. Pauli had other ideas, with the fans helping them through in the stands with their non-stop noise.

Cutting out the goals is a start, now the onus is on the 2. Bundesliga champions to score some of their own. They are by far the least potent side in the division from an attacking perspective, scoring just one goal across their four league fixtures played so far.

FREIBURG TEAM NEWS: GREGORITSCH COULD FEATURE FOLLOWING HAMSTRING TROUBLE

After missing the last few weeks through injury, striker Michael Gregoritsch could return to action here, but if he does play, it is likely to be from the bench when taking into account the form of Junior Adamu, who has been leading the line of late.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Atubolu; Kubler, Ginter, Lienhart, Gunter; Eggestein, Osterhage; Doan, Holer, Grifo; Adamu

UNAVAILABLE: Kyereh (Injured), Rohl (Injured), Sildillia (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Gregoritsch (Injured), Philipp (Injured)

ST. PAULI TEAM NEWS: FOUR MEN OUT BUT GUILAVOGUI COULD BE FIT

Midfielder Josuha Guilavogui is fighting to be fit for this match and it late call will be made on him. If he was to miss out, he’ll join four other St. Pauli players on the sidelines here, three of them through injury.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Vasilj; Wahl, Smith, Mets; Saliakas, Irvine, Boukhalfa, Treu; Saad, Eggestein, Ofalayan

UNAVAILABLE: Ahlers (Injured), Burchert (Injured), Wagner (Illness), Zoller (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Guilavogui (Injured)

FREIBURG VS ST. PAULI PREDICTION

As well as St. Pauli did to shut out RB Leipzig and take a point from that game, Freiburg is likely to prove arguably an even tougher assignment with it being away from home. The home side are hot right now, coming off the back of consecutive wins with five goals scored across the two matches. When taking into account Freiburg’s form and how good they look going forward, their offensive is likely to overwhelm the visitors and lead them to victory.
