THE LOWDOWN

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

Dino Toppmoller has recently gained a tune out of Eintracht Frankfurt and they went into the break on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run in all competitions. Key to their recent success has been the performance of their backline, who have combined to record three clean sheets across their last four games. Find the right mix of defensive stability and attacking potency is currently reaping its rewards.

Just as impressive about this Eintracht Frankfurt side is their resilience and never-say-die attitude. It was looking bleak for them last time out away at Werder Bremen as they fell to a 2-0 deficit at half-time. However, a rallying call in the dressing room saw them come out a different team and ultimately salvage a 2-2 draw.

STUTTGART

Stuttgart’s dream campaign recorded another memorable chapter a fortnight ago as their star-player returned to down Borussia Dortmund in dramatic fashion. With score at 1-1, star striker Serhou Guirassy was brought off the bench by Sebastian Hoeness after having missed his side’s last three games with a hamstring injury.

It took until the 83rd minute for Guirassy to make his mark. A penalty was awarded to Stuttgart and Guirassy stepped up to bury it, making it 15 Bundesliga goals for the season and securing three priceless points for Stuttgart. They now sit third-place in the table having won eight of their 11 Bundesliga fixtures this campaign, quite a figure for the winners of last season’s relegation play-off.

THE TEAM NEWS

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

Calf injuries have accounted for both of Eintracht Frankfurt’s confirmed missing players for this latest Bundesliga fixture. Centre-back Robin Koch and midfielder Sebastian Rode are the ones to be ruled out, with Koch’s absence likely meaning a starting back three of Tuta, Hrvoje Smolcic and Willian Pacho.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Trapp; Tuta, Smolcic, Pacho; Dina Ebimbe, Larsson, Skhiri, Max; Chaibi, Marmoush, Gotze

UNAVAILABLE: Koch (Injured), Rode (Injured)

STUTTGART

The news that all Stuttgart fans want to hear is that Guirassy is well and truly back. Following that winning cameo off the bench against Borussia Dortmund, the Guinean will surely be back among the starting XI for the away side, slotting in up top in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Midfielder Nikolas Nartey remains absent though and Roberto Massimo won’t feature either, both are injured.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Nubel; Stenzel, Anton, Zagadou, Ito; Karazor, Stiller; Mavumpa, Millot, Fuhrich; Guirassy

UNAVAILABLE: Massimo (Injured), Nartey (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

With free-scoring Guirassy back in the side from the start, Stuttgart’s danger level rises exponentially from an attacking perspective. This could lead to an exciting encounter as Eintracht Frankfurt are unlikely to back down offensively and on their home patch, won’t be afraid to throw bodies forward whenever possible. It would be no surprise to see plenty of chances at either end of the pitch and regardless of who gets the better of this one, backing both teams to score has to be favoured.

BETTING TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
