BAYER LEVERKUSEN
Bayer Leverkusen made one of the biggest statements in the first weekend of games, taking the prize-scalp of newly crowned DFL-Supercup winners RB Leipzig in a thrilling battle. After taking the lead in the 24th minute through Jeremie Frimpong, the hosts never lost control against Marco Rose’s side, making it 2-0 and then 3-1 later in the piece.
Ultimately, Leverkusen held on for a 3-2 win which saw Florian Wirtz score their third goal. After a 2022-23 season ruined by injury, the 20-year-old German prodigy could be set for a campaign which sees him recognised on the world stage.

When taking into account that a whopping 13 goals were scored over the course of the two fixtures last weekend involving Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen, it’s easy to see why so many are looking to this match-up.
