THE TEAM NEWS
BORUSSIA DORTMUND
- Borussia Dortmund were left frustrated in their first half against bottom of the table Paderborn last week but a dominant performance, particularly late in the contest, saw them rack up six goals.
- Jadon Sancho marked his return to the starting XI with a hat-trick while Thorgan Hazard, Achraf Hakimi and Marcel Schmelzer also found the back of the net in the 1-6 triumph but Dortmund know tougher tests are to come as they bid to secure their spot in the top four.
- Dortmund were hoping to receive a boost up front with the return of Erling Haaland but the centre-forward will be forced to sit this contest out despite appearing back at training during the week following his knee injury.
HERTHA
- Hertha’s impressive start to life under Bruno Labbadia continued as they remained unbeaten in their four games with the new boss at the helm following their win against Augsburg last weekend.
- They have now won three of those four games and kept a clean sheet once again in the 2-0 success thanks to goals from Javairo Dilrosun and Krzysztof Piatek but their unbeaten run will be put to the test on this trip to Borussia Dortmund.
- Piatek has now found the back of the net in his last two appearances which both came from the bench and he will hope he can earn a start here, especially with doubts surrounding Matheus Cunha while Marvin Plattenhardt is also struggling to prove his fitness.
THE PREDICTION
Borussia Dortmund put in a six-goal performance to see off Paderborn
last week but face a much tougher contest here as they host in-form
Hertha. The visitors are unbeaten under Bruno Labbadia and his side will
be full of confidence although they will be desperate for some good
news on the injury front with a couple of key men coming into the game
under an injury cloud. Dortmund will be keen to carry on where they left
off on the goalscoring front last week but Hertha should also be able
to contribute to a high-scoring contest.
