TOULOUSE PREVIEW: NOTHING TO PLAY FOR

Last season, in their first season back in the top-flight following promotion, Toulouse provided a major upset by winning the Coupe de France. The issue with that, though, was they qualified for the UEFA Europa League way ahead of schedule and have had a small squad to deal with domestic and continental commitments throughout this season.

After being eliminated from Europe by Benfica at the knockout playoff stage, they have been much-improved and eased themselves back into the middle-of-the-table. They come into this one on the back of a famous victory as they came from behind to defeat champions Paris Saint-Germain by three goals to one at the Parc des Princes.

BREST PREVIEW: AIMING FOR HISTORY

Under the management of former Sunderland player Eric Roy, Stade Brest begin this final round of fixtures in Ligue 1 very much in the hunt for a top three finish and UEFA Champions League qualification. The home team have majorly overperformed this season with one of the smallest budgets in the whole of France’s top-flight.

They were expected to struggle against relegation this season but have instead become one of the stories of the season in European football. Brest come into this one on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw against Stade de Reims, though, with Lilian Brassier needing to equalise in first-half stoppage-time after Marshall Munetsi had opened the scoring after 25 minutes.

TOULOUSE TEAM NEWS: DIARRA SUSPENDED

There is only one absentee for this weekend’s visit of Stade Brest as Moussa Diarra remains suspended so that means Spanish coach Carles Martinez Novell is able to name an unchanged eleven for this final day.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Restes; Keben, Costa, Magri; Desler, Casseres Jr, Sierro, Suazo; Aboukhlal, Dallinga, Gboho

UNAVAILABLE: Diarra (Suspended)

BREST TEAM NEWS: KEY MIDFIELD ISSUES

Midfield duo Pierre Lees-Melou and Romain Del Castillo are unavailable for this weekend due to respective injury issues with Lees-Melou having suffered a broken leg, whilst Bradley Locko is missing through suspension this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Bizot; Lala, Chardonnet, Brassier, Amavi; Martin, Magnetti; Satriano, Camara, Le Douaron; Mounie

UNAVAILABLE: Locko (Suspended), Del Castillo (Injured), Lees-Melou (Injured)

TOULOUSE VS BREST PREDICTION

As mentioned, Toulouse have improved a lot since their European elimination and they have done so by being a lot more front foot with Carlos Martinez Novell’s style of football allowing more fluency in possession. Brest have been strong because of their defending throughout the campaign but the last month and a half have seen those impressive standards slip. Whatever the outcome of this potentially famous day on Sunday, it is likely to be quite a fun watch for the neutral.
