STRASBOURG PREVIEW: SILKY STRASBOURG

Patrick Vieira was parted company with over the summer as Strasbourg deemed themselves to be underperforming the expectations put on them by their BlueCo ownership. The ownership group remain controversial and the subject of supporter unrest and protest but the appointment of former Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has been a good one.

The Alsace-based club have suffered just two defeats in their opening eight matches so far this season under the Englishman. The second of those defeats came at the Parc des Princes last weekend as they went down by four goals to two away at defending champions and league leading Paris Saint-Germain.

NANTES PREVIEW: DRIFTING NANTES

Last season, Nantes required three different managers to eventually steer themselves clear of the bottom three and the danger zone with both Pierre Aristouy and Jocelyn Gourvennac sacked by Nantes. Antoine Kombouare returned and remains in charge with Nantes looking to ensure a more comfortable mid-table position this time around.

The home team did start the campaign relatively well but they are now winless in their last five matches since the September international break. They returned from the October international break with a 1-1 draw against Nice last weekend at Stade de la Beaujoire with Matthis Abline’s opener cancelled out by Evann Guessand.

STRASBOURG TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ABSENTEES

Now the back-up goalkeeper Alaa Bellaarouch remains sidelined for Strasbourg this weekend alongside on-loan Chelsea and United States international defender Caleb Wiley.

As well as those defensive absentees, Strasbourg are also still without the likes of Thomas Delaine, Milos Lukovic, Moise Sahi and key attacker Emmanuel Emegha.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Senaya, Sylla, Sarr, Diego Moreira; Mwanga, Santos; Bakwa, Diarra, Nanasi; Mara

STRASBOURG VS NANTES PREDICTION

Liam Rosenior’s Strasbourg will believe that their performances have actually been a lot better than their results have shown and their results have already been reasonably good. They will be expected to push higher up the table and they now face a Nantes side that are simply trending in the opposite direction. Backing Strasbourg, especially with their home advantage, looks the way to go for this one.
