THE LOWDOWN

NANTES

Last month, former manager Antoine Kombouare returned to Nantes after the sackings of both Pierre Aristouy and Jocelyn Gourvennac. Nantes have performed well ever since his re-appointment and they have managed to push themselves away from the bottom three and the danger zone and they are already pretty much safe at this stage.

The home team come into this one on the back of a goalless draw against Stade Brest in their most recent outing, last weekend. That made it back-to-back draws for Nantes and they have now suffered just one defeat in their last six matches since the return of Kombouare during the March international break.

LILLE

Former Shakhtar Donetsk and Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has done a very impressive job at Lille with an easy on the eye style of football combined with an impressive defensive record whereby they have kept over 20 clean sheets across all competitions. However, the Portuguese coach looks like he may well depart at the end of this season and they are finishing with a bit of a whimper.

Fonseca looks like he may well be on his way down south to take over at Olympique de Marseille. That has combined with a fairly lacklustre run of form of late with two defeats in their last three matches against Olympique Lyonnais and Monaco either side of a hard-fought victory against struggling Metz.

THE PREDICTION

This one is one of the most important games left in Ligue 1 with something riding on it at both ends of the table. Nantes are trying to cement their spot in the Ligue 1 campaign for the 2024/25 campaign. Lille, on the other hand, are still trying to overthrow Stade Brest in the UEFA Champions League and qualifying spots. With so much on the line and two impressive teams, either recently or generally, both teams scoring looks good for this one.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
