THE LOWDOWN
MONTPELLIER
Montpellier Herault were always expected to be one of the teams who would struggle in Ligue 1 this season, especially after the league was reduced from 20 to 18 sides over the summer. They begin the weekend sitting in the bottom-half of the table and just a few points above the bottom three and the relegation places.
The home team come into this one on the back of being hammered 4-1 by Nice in the Coupe de France in midweek. That loss at home, in which they were four goals down after an hour, has followed on from a four-match winless run of form with the pressure significantly growing on Armenian coach, Michel Der Zakarian.
LYON
In what has been a nightmare campaign for Olympique Lyonnais so far this season, things do appear to finally be just about turning around for Lyon with their third permanent coach of the season, Pierre Sage, who replaced Fabio Grosso after he took over from Laurent Blanc, instilling a bit more cohesion to their overall play.
They come into this one on the back of holding off a strong Lille side by two goals to one in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France in midweek with goals from Gift Orban and Rayan Cherki either side of half-time. That means they have won seven and lost two of their last nine matches across all competitions, lifting themselves out of the bottom three in Ligue 1.

LYON
Lyon have no real injury concerns with just Johann Lepenant unavailable so they will likely name an unchanged eleven for this weekend’s encounter.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Lopes; Mata, O’Brien, Caleta-Car; Maitland-Niles, Caqueret, Matic, Tagliafico; Nuamah, Lacazette, Orban
UNAVAILABLE: Lepenant (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
In the reverse fixture between these two sides back in August, Montpellier went to Parc OL and thrashed a hapless Lyon side by four goals to one. For most of the first-half of the campaign, that result did not necessarily seem anomalous or out of character. However, as we approach the final few months of the campaign, these are two sides heading in opposite directions and backing the opposite of that result would seem sensible.
TIP: LYON TO WIN
