MARSEILLE PREVIEW: FIERY L’OM

Coached by former Brighton and Hove Albion, Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk coach Roberto De Zerbi, Olympique de Marseille have embarked upon another big spending revolution ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. They begin this round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top three and the UEFA Champions League spots.

Marseille have suffered just one defeat in their opening eight matches so far this season. The home team come into this one on the back of a 5-0 hammering of Montpellier Herault in their most recent outing, last weekend, with the goals coming from Elye Wahi, Amine Harit, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Mason Greenwood and Luiz Henrique.

PSG PREVIEW: PARISIEN ISSUES

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain sit at the top-of-the-table after eight matches of the campaign with six victories and two draws, beginning the weekend sitting just above Monaco on goal difference. Luis Enrique’s side have been underwhelming recently, though, with their most recent outing being a 1-1 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.

In the game before that draw with Dutch league leaders at Parc des Princes, PSG defeated Strasbourg by four goals to two in the French capital. Senny Mayulu and Marco Asensio made it 2-0 after 47 minutes before Sekou Mara got themselves a goal back. Bradley Barcola and Lee Kang-in extended the hammering before Pape Daouda Diong notched late on.

MARSEILLE TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ISSUES

Roberto De Zerbi has had to use lots of players already this season due to the amount of injury issues they have had and they do still have quite a few absentees this weekend.

Ruben Blanco is sidelined alongside Bilal Nadir, Quentin Merlin, Valentin Carboni as well as Cameroonian international forward Faris Moumbagna for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Rulli; Pol Lirola, Balerdi, Cornelius, Ulisses Garcia; Hojbjerg, Rabiot; Greenwood, Harit, Rowe; Wahi

UNAVAILABLE: Ruben Blanco (Injured), Merlin (Injured), Carboni (Injured), Moumbagna (Injured), Nadir (Injured)

PSG TEAM NEWS: STILL NO KIMPEMBE

France international defender Presnel Kimpembe has been unavailable for quite some time and he remains out for PSG this weekend due to a muscle injury.

They have been dealing with several issues throughout the campaign such as Goncalo Ramos and Warren Zaire-Emery but both of those players are fully fit and available.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Zaire-Emery, Skriniar, Willian Pacho, Beraldo; Mayulu, Vitinha, Neves; Doue, Marco Asensio, Barcola

UNAVAILABLE: Kimpembe (Injured)

MARSEILLE VS PSG PREDICTION

Marseille will use their hostile and febrile atmosphere at Stade Velodrome to their atmosphere with De Zerbi set to unleash an attacking and high pressing home team upon a PSG side that have been leaky and quite unconvincing defensively at times this season with just two clean sheets in their 11 matches across all competitions so far this season and just one in Ligue 1. This should be quite a thrilling encounter for the neutral.

MARSEILLE VS PSG TIP: OVER 2.5 GOALS
