THE LOWDOWN

LORIENT

Regis Le Bris remains in charge of Lorient but he is coming under pressure as his side underperform this season. They finished in the top-half last year but begin this match day sitting tucked inside the bottom two and the automatic relegation places. However, the pressure has eased on Le Bris with a couple of positive results of late.

To back up a thrilling 3-3 draw with Le Havre in late-January in a game in which they conceded a 94th minute equalising goal to their opposition, Lorient recovered with a vital 2-1 win against fellow strugglers Metz last weekend. Right wing-back Panos Katseris, who joined from Catanzaro in the January transfer window, scored a 58th minute winner in that game.

REIMS

As one of the more exciting and talked about young coaches in European football, there will be an expectation on Will Still that may not necessarily be fair just yet. The sale of Azor Matusiwa to Rennes in January will be a bit of a blow but Reims have spent quite heavily over the two transfer windows this season as they aim for a top six finish and European qualification.

They come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat at home to struggling Toulouse, knocking them out of the top six for now. They were 3-0 down by half-time but did show some pride to rally in that match. They have been entertaining to watch regardless of their run of form with 54 goals coming in their 20 matches so far this season.

REIMS

Will Still is dealing with a couple of injury issues as they make the drip to Lorient with key defender Maxime Busi among those set to be unavailable.

THE PREDICTION

A couple of weeks ago, and even still now on paper, this one looks a really tough test for Lorient but the home team will fancy their chances. They didn’t accidentally finish in the top-half last season; they did so because they have a strong side but have significantly underperformed this year. They face a Reims side that have been inconsistent of late but both teams have been very entertaining to watch. As a result, both teams scoring in an entertaining game for the neutral is to be expected on Sunday afternoon.
