THE LOWDOWN

LORIENT

In recent years, Lorient have been one of the more forward-thinking teams in France’s Ligue 1. They gained promotion to the top-flight and, under the management of Regis Le Bris, have been able to consistently build each year but they are now at the point where they now sit outside of the bottom three and the relegation places.

They come into this on the back of a slender 1-0 loss away to Stade de Reims in their most recent outing, last weekend. The home team have managed just two goals in their opening ten matches but they have remained thoroughly entertaining with 35 goals coming in those ten games. Only five teams have scored more than them so far this season.

LENS

Much like Lorient, Lens are a side that have been forward-thinking off the pitch and allowed themselves to become an established member of the top-flight. The visitors haven’t just re-established themselves back in France’s elite level but even finished as runners’ up to Paris Saint-Germain, last season.

They started this season really poorly, though, before a quite extraordinary turnaround in their form in mid-September. After beginning with no victories in their opening six matches across all competitions, they have since won four and drawn two of their next six games and are unbeaten in seven matches across all competitions.

THE TEAM NEWS

LORIENT

Lorient have had injury issues throughout the campaign and this weekend is no different with the likes of Benjamin Mendy and Bamba Dieng out injured.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Mvogo; Mendy, Talbi, Toure; Le Bris, Abergel, Bakayoko, Yongwa; Faivre, Aiyegun; Kroupi

QUESTIONABLE:

LENS

Lens are without some key players for this one with the likes of Wesley Said and Jimmy Cabot unavailable due to injury as they travel to Lorient.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Samba; Gradit, Danso, Medina; Aguilar, Abdul Samed, Diouf, Machado; Sotoca, Thomasson; Wahi

UNAVAILABLE: Said (Injured), Sishuba (Injured), Costa (Injured), Cabot (Injured), Farinez (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

THE PREDICTION

These two sides have followed along similar trajectories in recent seasons, albeit to very different extents with Lorient being content with a top-half finish last season, whilst Lens are competing in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. Lens’ form has coincided with a lot more fluency going forward with their play beginning to flow through striker Elye Wahi. It could be quite an entertaining encounter, albeit the end result is fairly expected with Lens the firm favourites.

BETTING TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE & LENS TO WIN
