THE LOWDOWN

LENS

Under the management of Franck Haise, Lens had to deal with a difficult summer transfer window and that led to an immediate slow start for last season’s runners’ up. However, they have been extremely strong since around mid-to-late-September with their current league position being fairly described as ‘false’.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Stade de Reims in their most recent outing, last weekend, at Stade Auguste-Delaune II. Wesley Said scored an equalising goal in that game for Lens against Oumar Diakite and they are unbeaten in four matches with just two defeats in 17 Ligue 1 games and those defeats coming against PSG and Nice, who are challenging in the top three ahead of this weekend.

MONACO

Under the management of former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter, Monaco have enjoyed an entertaining season so far as they try and get back into Europe for next season. However, they currently sit outside of the top three ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures and that Will be a disappointment if that ends up being the case after a strong start.

The principality club come into this one on the back of a surprising and very disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Toulouse in their most recent outing, last weekend, with Logan Costa scoring a 70th minute winner for Toulouse. They have only won three of their last ten matches inside 90 minutes across all competitions.

THE PREDICTION

This one has the potential to be a really entertaining clash for the neutral. Lens, as mentioned, do not suffer many defeats in Ligue 1 now that they have steadied themselves after a shaky start to the campaign but they remain a team that attempt to play on the front foot. They now face a Monaco side that have had 73 goals come in their 22 matches so far this season. Both teams scoring does seem a very good bet for this one as the Monagasque make the long journey to the north of France.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
