THE LOWDOWN

LE HAVRE

For the first time in 15 years Le Havre gained promotion back to the elite level of French football. Once famed for their productive academy they are more reliant on some impressive recruits from the summer transfer window. The likes of Russia international Daler Kuzyayev and Mohamed Bayo, formerly of Clermont.

So, following promotion, Le Havre will be more than content to be beginning the seventh match day of the season sitting in the top-half of the table. They come into this on the back of a 2-1 win at home to Clermont in their most recent outing, last weekend, which means they are now unbeaten in their last four matches in Ligue 1.

LILLE

Lille do have the distraction of UEFA Europa Conference League football this season after an impressive first season in charge of Paulo Fonseca. The northerners, though appear to be struggling with finding the right balance between domestic and continental competition. They come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Stade Reims.

Their general inconsistency throughout the campaign can be seen by the basic fact that they have started with two victories, two draws and two defeats. The visitors have managed just one win in the league in their last four matches and now also have further distraction of a game against Klaksvikar Itrottarfelag in the Faroe Islands in midweek.

THE TEAM NEWS

LE HAVRE

Despite having a few injuries ahead of this weekend, Le Havre would be able to name an unchanged eleven for this weekend’s encounter after their defeat of Clermont.

PREDICTED XI (4-1-4-1): Desmas; Salmier, Sangante, Lloris, Operi; Toure; Casimir, Kuzyayev, Kechta, Alioui; Bayo

UNAVAILABLE: Confais (Injured), Joujou (Injured), Nego (Injured), Targhalline (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

LILLE

Lille will be without a couple of players for this weekend’s trip, including midfield duo Nabil Bentaleb and Adam Ounas, who remain injured for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Chevalier; Santos, Yoro, Umtiti, Ismaily; Andre, Gomes; Yazici, Cabella, Haraldsson; David

UNAVAILABLE: Bentaleb (Injured), Ounas (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Le Havre do just have two more points than Lille but it feels like a few more given their respective pre-season expectations. The home team will be content to simply stay in matches but they are one of just seven sides to have already reached double figures for goals this season. They face a Lille side that, as mentioned have that upcoming trip to the Faroe Islands. Lille are more than capable of scoring against anyone so both teams scoring looks a good bet for this one on Sunday afternoon.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
