WOLVES

• Wolves’ long-standing profligacy in front of goal cost them once again last week as they wasted some good opportunities in their 1-0 defeat to Spurs, although Raul Jimenez’ positive performance in the midweek win over Preston North End in the League Cup is a boost.
• Chiquinho is the only injury absentee at the moment so Bruno Lage has plenty of options at his disposal with Adama Traore another player that will be considered after impressing on Tuesday

NEWCASTLE

• There were mixed emotions at St. James’ Park last weekend as a point against Man City is never a bad result, but it could have been so much better had the Magpies held on to their 3-1 lead.
• Striker Callum Wilson is out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury which could see Chris Wood – who was on the scoresheet in the League Cup on Wednesday – fill in, although imminent signing Alexander Isak could be an option should the Swede be registered in time.

THE PREDICTION

The loss of Callum Wilson to injury is no doubt a blow to Newcastle but they have a deep enough squad now to cope with such setbacks, and even deeper pockets with which to bring players in before the transfer deadline closes. Despite being pegged back by Man City last week, the way that Eddie Howe’s men competed with the champions was a hugely encouraging sign for Magpies fans and it shows just how far they have come since the Saudi-backed takeover. They will lose some cutting edge in attack here without Wilson, and Wolves have been hugely wasteful in front of goal to date, so under 2.5 goals looks likely in this one, with draw no bet on the visitors another option.
