WOLVES PREVIEW: BOTTOM OF THE PILE

After a somewhat promising display against Arsenal – despite a defeat – on the opening weekend of the season, Wolves find themselves bottom of the Premier League table heading into the latest round of fixtures, having picked up just a single point in their four league games since.

Their latest outing saw them come up short against west midlands rivals Aston Villa. Despite leading the game until the 73rd minute through a Matheus Cunha strike, Gary O’Neil’s men conceded three times in the closing stages to make it a third straight defeat in all competitions.

LIVERPOOL PREVIEW: SCORING FREELY

Since losing to Nottingham Forest in the middle of September, Liverpool have responded strongly with three wins and 11 goals scored in Champions League, Premier League and League Cup encounters.

Their midweek cup victory was a 5-1 thrashing of West Ham, with both Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo helping themselves to braces either side of a Mo Salah goal.

WOLVES TEAM NEWS: MOSQUERA BLOW

Wolves have been hit with a huge blow as key centre-back Yerson Mosquera is likely to miss the entire season with the knee injury he sustained against Aston Villa. For this fixture, O'Neil would ideally like Toti Gomes to deputise, but with the Portuguese international not yet fully fit, it could fall to Santiago Bueno to fill in.

Mosquera joins four other players who will definitely not be involved on Saturday, while some unnamed players are said to be suffering from a virus in the Wolves camp.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Johnstone; Semedo, S. Bueno, Dawson, Ait-Nouri; Lemina, Andre, Joao Gomes; Cunha, Strand Larsen, Bellegarde

UNAVAILABLE: Mosquera (Injured), Meupiyou (Injured), Enso Gonzalez (Injured), Traore (Injured), Kalajdzic (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Toti (Injured)

LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS: ALISSON RETURNING?

Assuming he has come through training unscathed, Alisson is set to resume goalkeeping duties after a thigh injury kept him out of last weekend's win over Bournemouth. If the Brazilian does make it, that would mean Harvey Elliott is the only injury absentee in the Reds camp.

In terms of team selection, Cody Gakpo is knocking on the door for a first league start of the season after some impressive showings in cup outings recently, but Arne Slot may instead re-instate Diogo Jota to the league XI.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota

UNAVAILABLE: Elliott (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Alisson (Injured)

WOLVES VS LIVERPOOL PREDICTION

With the shock defeat at home to Nottingham Forest notwithstanding, Liverpool have been hugely impressive in attack this season with goals being spread across their various attacking assets, and that does not spell good news for a Wolves side who have just lost one of their key defenders to injury.

The fierce competition for places in the Liverpool frontline is bringing out the best in Slot's attackers, and they look primed for another goal-laden victory against a weakened Wolves rearguard. Expect the visitors to be leading at both half-time and full-time.
