THE LOWDOWN

WOLVES

After a four-game winless run in all competitions, Wolves' 2-1 victory over Man City last Saturday surely amounted to the shock of the season given that the reigning champions had previously won all of their games.

A Ruben Dias own goal sent Wolves on their way against Pep Guardiola's men, and although Julian Alvarez's equaliser just before the hour mark looked like the beginning of the comeback, Hwang Hee-chan put the hosts back in front and they held on for a memorable victory.

ASTON VILLA

Aston Villa were in irresistible form last week with Unai Emery's side, inspired by hat-trick hero Ollie Watkins, putting six past Brighton in an emphatic win, leaving them in fifth place ahead of this weekend's fixtures.

The west midlands side followed that up with a late victory over Bosnian outfit Zrinjski in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, so things are going well on all fronts right now.

THE TEAM NEWS

WOLVES

Santiago Bueno and Hugo Bueno are both doubts for the West Midlands Derby, while Jean-Ricner Bellegarde continues his suspension for the red card he received against Luton.

Gary O'Neil opted for a three-at-the-back system against Man City and, given its success, could stick with that approach here.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Sa; Kilman, Dawson, T. Gomes; Semedo J. Gomes. Lemina, Ait-Nouri; Neto, Hwang; Cunha

UNAVAILABLE: Bellegarde (Suspended)

QUESTIONABLE: S. Bueno (Injured), H. Bueno (Injured)

ASTON VILLA

Moussa Diaby is not 100% but he could still feature according to Unai Emery, while Diego Carlos and Leon Bailey made their returns from injury in midweek European action.

Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey have suffered setbacks in their own recovery though, and will not be considered for selection here.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Luiz; Bailey, McGinn, Zaniolo; Watkins

UNAVAILABLE: Mings (Injured), Moreno (Injured), Ramsey (Injured), Buendia (Injured),

QUESTIONABLE: Iroegbunam (Injured), Diaby (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Aston Villa have a poor recent record in this fixture having beaten their west midland rivals in just one of the last eight meetings between the two teams. However, that record could be set to improve here given the form of Unai Emery's men. Wolves are coming off an excellent result themselves, but they have lacked consistency in their performances this season, saving their best for clashes with the so-called 'big' teams. In-form Ollie Watkins can do no wrong right now, so an anytime goalscorer bet on the Villa striker is justified.

TIP: OLLIE WATKINS TO SCORE ANYTIME
