THE LOWDOWN

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Nottingham Forest come into this one on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup in midweek at the City Ground with Brazilian international midfielder Casemiro scoring a late winning goal for Forest in that match. That loss does now allow them to fully focus on avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

They earned a much-needed 2-0 defeat of West Ham United a couple of weeks ago but then suffered a 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa a Villa Park a week later. That means Forest begin the weekend sitting 17th in the table and just four points clear of the bottom three with the potential of a points deduction between now and the end of the season.

LIVERPOOL

Jurgen Klopp has been forced to field an inexperienced and injury ravaged squad in two crucial cup matches in the last week or so but the Reds have pulled off two famous victories. They firstly defeated Chelsea by a goal to nil after extra-time in the EFL Cup final with a late winner from Virgil van Dijk to ensure Klopp will finish his Liverpool reign with silverware.

A few days later, they defeated a Southampton side who are chasing automatic promotion in the Championship by three goals to nil with a strike from Lewis Koumas and a brace from Jayden Danns, sending them through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as they chase a remarkable and historic quadruple this season.

THE TEAM NEWS

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that both Ola Aina and Nuno Tavares are expected to remain out for this weekend as they have ‘more problems’ as described by the former Wolves boss.

He did, though, suggest there were a few players that could return. Ivory Coast duo Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangare may be back available, as may New Zealand international, Chris Wood.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Williams, Felipe, Murillo, Niakhate; Dominguez, Danilo; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Awoniyi

UNAVAILABLE: Aina (Injured), Tavares (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Boly (Injured), Sangare (Injured), Wood (Injured)

LIVERPOOL

It has been confirmed that both Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez returned to training on Thursday so both will be available to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp also confirmed that Andrew Robertson and Wataru Endo will return to training on Friday afternoon so they could also both be available for this weekend. However, Mohamed Salah remains out alongside Alisson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Mac Allister, Endo, Elliott; Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz

UNAVAILABLE: Alisson (Injured), Matip (Injured), Alexander-Arnold (Injured), Bajcetic (Injured), Thiago (Injured), Jones (Injured), Gravenberch (Injured), Salah (Injured), Diogo Jota (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Robertson (Injured), Endo (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Nottingham Forest supporters are perhaps growing a little frustrated with the way in which Nuno Espirito Santo sets his teams up and that is expected to be no different, if not even more defensive, as they welcome Liverpool to the City Ground. Liverpool will still be without several key players for this weekend but they are in a ‘good moment’ as is the phrase used in football circles and backing against them would be a bit silly.

TIP: LIVERPOOL TO WIN
