THE LOWDOWN

MAN UTD

With Man Utd much-improved under Erik ten Hag last season, there is plenty of belief that they can kick on and perhaps even mount a title challenge this time around. There have been some eye-catching acquisitions in the form of goalkeeper Andre Onana, midfielder Mason Mount and striker Rasmus Hojlund, and Onana in particular will be under plenty of scrutiny after replacing long-time servant David de Gea.

WOLVES

It's been a turbulent week for Wolves, who parted ways with Julen Lopetegui and swiftly appointed former Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil. Lopetegui's exit will be a particularly bitter pill to swallow for fans given the stellar job the Spaniard did after taking over a struggling team last season.

The midlands club have seen a number of big players exit the door this summer and it looks like it could be a season of struggle for them unless they can bring reinforcements in before the transfer window closes.

THE TEAM NEWS

MAN UTD

Dean Henderson, Tom Heaton, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund are confirmed as out for this fixture, with the latter's absence ensuring that either Marcus Rashford or Jadon Sancho will lead the line for the Red Devils.

Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will compete for the right-back spot, while Andre Onana and Mason Mount are poised to make their competitive debuts for their new club.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mount; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Rashford

UNAVAILABLE: Henderson (Injured), Heaton (Injured), Malacia (Injured), Mainoo (Injured), Diallo (Injured), Hojlund (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Martial (Fitness)

WOLVES

In what is a rare occurrence, Wolves do not have a single injury to report so Gary O'Neil has a clean bill of health for his first game in charge. The former Bournemouth boss has not had a great deal of time to work with the team, so he may opt to field something similar to how Julen Lopetegui lined up in recent pre-season friendlies.

PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Sa; Semedo, Dawson, Kilman, Bueno; Nunes, Lemina, Traore, Neto; Sarabia, Cunha

THE PREDICTION

Man Utd fans are cautiously optimistic about the season ahead and Erik ten Hag's men have been handed one of the kinder opening fixtures as Wolves are in a state of flux right now. The timing of Julen Lopetegui's exit was hardly ideal and Gary O'Neil has barely had any time to work with his new team. The visitors are likely to set up defensively, but Man Utd have more than enough firepower to see them off. The hosts to be winning at both half-time and full-time is the tip.

TIP: DOUBLE RESULT – MAN UTD / MAN UTD
