THE LOWDOWN

MAN CITY

West Ham represented a potential stumbling block for Man City last week, and there was concern when Pep Guardiola's men were behind at the break, but the reigning champions responded in typically ruthless fashion in the second half to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season.

City then opened their Champions League account with a 3-1 victory over Crvena zvezda on Tuesday, and they look in fine form heading into this contest.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Although Nottingham Forest had to settle for a point against promoted side Burnley on Monday, Steve Cooper's men sit in a highly respectable eighth position in the Premier League table ahead of the weekend.

Forest had to show some resolve to come from behind on Monday, as Zeki Amdouni had given the Clarets the lead late in the second half. Debutant Callum Hudson-Odoi had other ideas though, with the former Chelsea man curling a fine strike into the top corner just after the hour mark. Burnley striker Lyle Foster was given his marching orders for violent conduct late on, but all in all it was a fair result at the City Ground.

THE TEAM NEWS

MAN CITY

Bernardo Silva became the latest City player to suffer an injury when he was withdrawn in the first half midweek, and he will definitely miss the weekend's fixture. In better news though, Jack Grealish could play some part after a return to training, while Mateo Kovacic is in the latter stages of his recovery.

Manuel Akanji and Josko Gvardio are poised to return to the starting line-up after bench roles on Tuesday, while Jeremy Doku is likewise a strong candidate to start. John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne remain sidelined, however.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Nunes, Rodri; Doku, Alvarez, Foden; Haaland

UNAVAILABLE: Stones (Injured), De Bruyne (Injured), Bernardo (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Kovacic (Injured), Grealish (Injured)

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Willy Boly has resumed training after illness kept him out against Luton, and should he be fit enough to start, Steve Cooper could revert to the back three that he has preferred in most games this season.

Serge Aurier has a chance of inclusion but Cooper conceded they wouldn't take any risks with the Ivorian, while Danilo is still some weeks away from a return.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Turner; Boly, Worrall, McKenna; Montiel, Mangala, Yates, Hudson-Odoi; Elanga, Gibbs-White; Awoniyi

UNAVAILABLE: Danilo (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Hennessey (Injured), Boly (Illness), Aurier (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Man City have been a relentless machine since the season began, and although the injuries are totting up right now, they are yet to drop a single point in the Premier League. Nottingham Forest's best hope is that their opponents will be suffering some fatigue from their midweek Champions League tie, but even then you would still make the hosts heavy favourites. Erling Haaland has been missing a few more chances than usual lately, but Forest will have a hard time containing him here so consider backing the Norwegian striker in the anytime goalscorer market.

TIP: ERLING HAALAND TO SCORE ANYTIME
