LUTON TOWN PREVIEW: LUTON FALL JUST SHORT IN BRAVE RELEGATION FIGHT

Although Luton Town’s survival hopes are all but over, they’ll want to mark their debut Premier League season with victory in their final home game. Kenilworth Road hosting top flight football in 2024 is an example of how wonderful the English football pyramid is and for Luton to technically enter the final round of fixtures without being officially relegated yet is a testament to the fight they’ve put up.

Although Rob Edwards’ men took the lead away to West Ham last weekend and held it until half-time, their defensive fragilities ended up costing them again in the second-half, conceding an equaliser before succumbing to an eventual 3-1 defeat as the Hatters noticeable tired out against a strong Hammers side.

FULHAM PREVIEW: FULHAM REFLECT ON YEAR OF PROGRESSION UNDER SILVA

Fulham manager Marco Silva has guided the Cottagers to 14th place with one round of Premier League fixtures remaining. Whilst they cannot now be overtaken, Fulham could yet leapfrog both Wolves and Crystal Palace should both clubs lose their respective games on the final day of the season.

Only a poor run of form across the past few weeks has denied Fulham a crack at finishing inside the top half, having not won in their last four Premier League games. Most recently, they were comfortably dispatched 0-4 by Man City at Craven Cottage.

LUTON TOWN TEAM NEWS: ACE BARKLEY OUT AFTER LAST WEEKEND’S INJURY

Luton’s injury list is extensive with a number of defenders missing. Jacob Brown is also absent and he’s been sorely missed by the hosts. However, the biggest blow is regarding their midfield diamond. Ross Barkley started last weekend but was forced off through injury.

It marks a sad way to end what has been a real resurgent campaign for the former Everton man, who is likely to remain in the Premier League next season following his performances in 2023-24.

UNAVAILABLE: Barkley (Injured), Bell (Injured), Brown (Injured), Burke (Injured), Kabore (Injured), Lockyer (Injured), Nakamba (Injured)

FULHAM TEAM NEWS: CENTRE-BACK DIOP SUSPENDED FOR FINAL DAY

Issa Diop will be missing here for Fulham the centre-back is suspended after being sent off last time out against Man City. As a result, expect Tim Ream and Calvin Bassey to partner up in the centre of defence for the visiting side.

Midfielder Sasa Lukic is also out after failing to recover from injury. Rodrigo Muniz is likely to keep his place up top ahead of Raul Jimenez, whilst Adama Traore may also be forced to settle for a place on the bench once again.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Ream, Bassey, Robinson; Palhinha, Iwobi; De Cordova-Reid, Pereira, Willian; Muniz

LUTON TOWN VS FULHAM PREDICTION

Expect Luton Town to come out of the traps fast with the aim of taking the game to Fulham in their quest to end what has been a memorable season by winning. The Hatters have always managed to find goals, but on the flip-side, they’ve failed to keep them out at the other end and against a dynamic Fulham unit under Silva, that is expected to continue. Expect an entertaining game from neutral’s perspective and consider backing both teams to score.
