LIVERPOOL PREVIEW: AUF WIEDERSEHEN

It will be an emotional night at Anfield this weekend. Jurgen Klopp is preparing for his final match in charge of Liverpool, ending over eight years with the Reds. In what has been a transitional campaign in terms of the squad, a third place finish and a trophy will be seen as a relatively successful season but it can’t help but feel a little underwhelming as a farewell to the German.

The story of their season arguably took place at Villa Park last Monday. Liverpool were very entertaining to watch and moved themselves into a 3-1 lead early on in the second-half but a late Jhon Duran brace brought it back to all square. Their last five matches in the Premier League have consisted of 22 goals.

WOLVES PREVIEW: LOOKING TO SPOIL THE SADNESS

Wolverhampton Wanderers began this season on the back of a turbulent summer transfer window in which Gary O’Neil had to replace Julen Lopetegui right on the eve of the campaign and in circumstances whereby Wolves were being tipped up to struggle. However, they have comfortably survived and begin the final match day sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table.

Despite surviving, though, Wolves have endured a really difficult final couple of months of this season. They were hammered 3-1 by Crystal Palace at Molineux last weekend with goals from Michael Olise, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze in that game. That means they have won just one of their last ten matches across all competitions.

LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS: ADDITIONAL HEADING HERE

In Jurgen Klopp's final pre-match press conference as Liverpool manager there was no section on team news so this is based on pre-existing knowledge.

The Reds had been without Andrew Robertson, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota but all three have been seen back in training, whilst Joel Matip does remain unavailable.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez; Mac Allister, Endo, Elliott; Salah, Gakpo, Luis Diaz

UNAVAILABLE: Matip (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Robertson (Injured), Thiago (Injured), Diogo Jota (Injured)

WOLVES TEAM NEWS: PEDRO NETO COULD RETURN

Gary O'Neil has been blessed with a key returnee for this weekend's trip to Anfield. Portugal winger Pedro Neto has been missing with a hamstring injury but he has been involved in training this week.

They are without defender Craig Dawson as well as Leon Chiwome for the weekend as they have been out for a while, whilst Pablo Sarabia is an issue with a 'slight injury'.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Bentley; Semedo, Kilman, Toti; Doherty, Joao Gomes, M. Lemina, Traore, Ait-Nouri; Cunha, Hwang

UNAVAILABLE: Dawson (Injured), Chiwome (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Pablo Sarabia (Injured), Neto (Injured)

LIVERPOOL VS WOLVES PREDICTION

For the third time in five seasons, Liverpool are finishing the season at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers. What you cannot trust Liverpool to this season is keep a clean sheet and Gary O’Neil does appear to be looking to the future with this Wolves side so there will be an intent to put together some cohesive attacking patterns of play. Even with that said, a ‘rock n roll’, as Jurgen Klopp once famously said, home win would appear the likeliest outcome.
