THE LOWDOWN

CHELSEA

While Chelsea let a two-goal lead slip against Arsenal last week and had to ultimately settle for a draw, there is no doubt that they have improved significantly, and if they avoid defeat here it would represent their longest unbeaten run in all competitions for over a year.

Maurizio Pochettino's men started the brighter against the Gunners, with Cole Palmer putting them ahead from the spot after just 15 minutes. The improving Mykhailo Mudryk doubled the Blues' advantage, but Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard both struck in the last 15 minutes to ensure a share of the spoils.

BRENTFORD

Brentford stopped the rot with victory over Burnley last week, which will have been of great relief to Thomas Frank given the fact his side had gone six Premier League games without tasting victory.

Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo - both of whom started the season brightly - were back among the goals last weekend, while Saman Ghoddos added the gloss to a comfortable 3-0 victory over the promoted side.

THE TEAM NEWS

CHELSEA

Despite getting some minutes last week, Pochettino has stated that Reece James will start on the bench again, meaning Malo Gusto will continue at right-back. Marc Cucurella, meanwhile, could continue at left-back after impressing of late.

The Blues are starting to recoup some of their injured players, and there is positive news regarding Christopher Nkunku, who could be ready after the international break.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Sanchez, Gusto, Silva, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Sterling, Gallagher, Mudryk; Palmer

UNAVAILABLE: Chalobah (Injured), Fofana (Injured), Chilwell (Injured), Lavia (Injured), Chukwuemeka (Injured), Nkunku (Injured), Broja (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Bettinelli (Injured)

BRENTFORD

Aaron Hickey returns from his one-game ban and should slot straight back into left-back, allowing Vitaly Janelt to revert to his more orthodox midfield role.

Thomas Frank still has a lengthy injury list to overcome, with seven players missing through injury, or in Ivan Toney's case, suspension.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Hickey; Janelt, Norgaard, Jensen; Mbeumo, Maupay, Wissa

UNAVAILABLE: Henry (Injured), Damsgaard (Injured), Dasilva (Injured), Baptiste (Injured), Schade (Injured), Lewis-Potter (Injured), Toney (Suspended)

THE PREDICTION

Things appear to be on the up at Chelsea, with Pochettino now getting a tune out of his undoubtedly talented squad. They could, and perhaps should, have beaten Arsenal last weekend, but their performance was highly promising and it is clear that confidence is beginning to grow in the camp. They now face a Brentford side who recorded a morale-boosting victory themselves last weekend, but we're siding with the hosts here, who are clearly on an upward trajectory. Brentford don't tend to concede many goals though, so expect this to be low-scoring.

BETTING TIP: CHELSEA TO WIN & UNDER 2.5 GOALS
