With an FA Cup fourth round tie coming up against Sheffield United as well as UEFA Europa League knockout football in March, Roberto De Zerbi and Brighton and Hove Albion will have been pleased with being able to take a short break from the relentless footballing calendar as they try and stay in touch with the top seven and the European spots.
The Seagulls’ most recent outing saw them come from behind to defeat Championship side Stoke City by four goals to two at the Bet365 Stadium a couple of weeks ago in the third round of the FA Cup. That means that Brighton have now suffered just three defeats in their last 19 matches in all competitions with those three losses coming away against Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.
WOLVES
Under the management of Gary O’Neil, Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed a relatively impressive campaign as they sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table after a turbulent summer which had led to them being tipped up as one of the likely relegation contenders. They come into this on the back of an extra-time defeat of Brentford in their FA Cup third round replay in midweek.
That dramatic win, in which they had fallen behind twice on the night, means that Wolves are now unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions and they have enjoyed three successive Premier League victories ahead of this weekend, too. They have suffered just one loss in their last eight games in both the cup and the league.

BRIGHTON
Roberto De Zerbi and Brighton and Hove Albion have several injury concerns for this weekend with The Seagulls missing key players. The latest issue revolves around Brazilian defender, Igor, who is a doubt for Monday’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the AMEX Stadium.
There are players nearing a return, such as Simon Adingra and Kaoru Mitoma, but neither of them are ready to return for this week. Solly March is still missing with a long-term injury, whilst Tariq Lamptey, Joel Veltman and Julio Enciso are all also unavailable.

Jonny remains unavailable for interna disciplinary reasons with O’Neil saying that the Spaniard won’t be able to be in the first-team until the end of the January transfer window at the very least. Joao Gomes also remains unavailable due to suspension after his red card against Brentford earlier this month.

The added exertion of playing European football for the first time ever this season but Brighton have remained very impressive as they attempt to punch above their weight for another campaign. Whilst they have been inconsistent in the Premier League, their recent mini winter break is likely to aid them and, as mentioned, not many sides have been able to defeat them. Wolves went into the New Year on the back of some excellent form but that run is not going to continue indefinitely and this seems like a good chance to back against them.
