THE LOWDOWN

BRENTFORD

Under the management of Thomas Frank, Brentford have now mathematically assured themselves of safety as they sit ten points clear of 18th placed Luton Town with three games of the 2023/24 Premier League season to go. The Bees’ performances had been improved since mid-January but results finally followed after the March international break.

They do, though, come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 loss against Everton at Goodison Park in their most recent outing, last weekend, with Idrissa Gueye scoring a 60th minute winning goal. That victory ended a five-match unbeaten run of form since the break and they will be aiming to finish the season with a flourish.

FULHAM

It has been a fairly bizarre campaign for Fulham and Marco Silva with the Cottagers beginning this weekend’s round of fixtures in the bottom-half of the table despite enjoying victories against Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur this season but ever since defeating Spurs before the break, they have pretty much collapsed.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to in-form Crystal Palace last weekend with Rodrigo Muniz’ 52nd minute opener being cancelled out late on by Jeff Schlupp. That means Fulham have now managed just one victory in their last six matches in the Premier League firmly ensconced in the middle-of-the-table.

THE TEAM NEWS

BRENTFORD

Thomas Frank will continue to be without some key first-teamers who are expected to be unavailable for the rest of the season such as Ben Mee, Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry and Josh Dasilva.

However, their forward, Neal Maupay, will be able to play at the Gtech Community Stadium after he missed last weekend's game against Everton due to being ineligible.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Reguilon; Jensen, Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Toney, Wissa

UNAVAILABLE: Mee (Injured), Hickey (Injured), Henry (Injured), Dasilva (Injured

QUESTIONABLE:

FULHAM

Marco Silva has confirmed that everyone is fully fit and available for Fulham once again bar midfielder Harrison Reed, who will require a late fitness test ahead of the derby.

Tosin Adarabioyo is not injured nor suspended but was left out of the squad last weekend with the former Manchester City defender expected to depart at the end of the season.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Joao Palhinha, Lukic; Decordova-Reid, Andreas Pereira, Iwobi; Rodrigo Muniz

UNAVAILABLE:

QUESTIONABLE: Reed (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This west London derby is between two times that have shared 13 goals in their three Premier League meetings before this weekend’s clash at the Gtech Community Stadium. Brentford have been a lot more disorganised at the back than they ever were before with their 35 matches consisting of 112 goals. Fulham are too bizarre to call but are often involved in entertaining clashes so both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
