THE LOWDOWN

BOURNEMOUTH

After registering their first Premier League win of the season two weeks ago, Bournemouth were brought crashing back down to earth with a humbling 6-1 defeat at the hands of reigning champions Man City last Saturday.

The Cherries held on for half an hour but from then on it was mostly one-way traffic as six different players got on the scoresheet for Pep Guardiola's side, as Luis Sinisterra's first Bournemouth goal was nothing more than a consolation.

NEWCASTLE

After a sticky start to the campaign, Newcastle have won five and drawn two of their last seven Premier League games, their latest an admittedly controversial 1-0 victory over Arsenal last weekend.

They have hit a bump in the road when it comes to the Champions League though, as they have lost back-to-back games against Borussia Dortmund to leave their round of 16 qualification in the balance.

THE TEAM NEWS

BOURNEMOUTH

Alex Scott faces a significant spell on the sidelines with a knee injury suffered against Man City, so Lewis Cook - who has completed his suspension - could line up in midfield.

Goalkeeper Neto has returned to training a little sooner than expected after his ankle injury, and has a chance of returning between the sticks here.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Radu; Aarons, Zabarnyi, Kelly, Kerkez; Cook, Billing; Semenyo, Christie, Kluivert; Solanke

UNAVAILABLE: Scott (Injured), Adams (Injured), Fredericks (Injured), Marcondes (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Neto (Injured), Randolph (Illness)

NEWCASTLE

The Magpies are beset with injury problems in all outfield areas of the pitch at the moment, so Eddie Howe's options are limited in terms of team selection.

There will be a late check on Callum Wilson, and if the striker doesn't make it, Anthony Gordon may be required to play a central attacking role. Bruno Guimaraes, meanwhile, is suspended, and Dan Burn is likely out until 2024 with the back injury suffered last week.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Pope; Livramento, Schar, Lascelles, Trippier; Longstaff, Willock, Joelinton; Almiron, Wilson, Gordon

UNAVAILABLE: Botman (Injured), Targett (Injured), Manquillo (Injured), Burn (Injured), Anderson (Injured), Tonali (Suspended), Guimaraes (Suspended), Murphy (Injured), Barnes (Injured), Isak (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Wilson (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Confidence is bound to be low in the Bournemouth camp at the moment but they can take heart from the fact Newcastle are suffering something of an injury crisis right now. The visitors may well have to play without a recognised striker here, which would significantly nullify their threat, and if that is to be the case, then goals could be at a premium. Keep an eye on the pre-match team news, and if Callum Wilson doesn't recover in time, consider backing under 2.5 goals.

BETTING TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
