ARSENAL PREVIEW: FIRST DEFEAT

Arsenal suffered their first real setback of the season last weekend when they lost 2-0 to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium but they return to the Emirates where they have won nine and drawn one of their last ten games.

The Gunners were 1-0 victors over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday, and they are yet to conceded a goal in their three European games this season.

LIVERPOOL PREVIEW: EIGHTS WINS IN A ROW

Arne Slot's Liverpool passed a real text last weekend against Chelsea, with the Reds triumphing 2-1 thanks to a 51st-minute winner from the impressive Curtis Jones, and they backed that up with a professional 0-1 victory away at Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Merseyside outfit have won their last eight games in all competitions since their only defeat of the season - a 0-1 loss at Nottingham Forest in mid September.

ARSENAL TEAM NEWS: SALIBA SUSPENDED & SAKA UNCERTAINTY

As usual, Mikel Arteta was not very forthcoming about his players' availability, but he did at least declare that Bukayo Saka "has done a bit of training" in his recovery from a thigh injury, while some uncertainty also surrounds Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber's condition.

William Saliba is suspended so Gabriel is likely to be partnered by Jakub Kiwior in the heart of defence.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Raya; White, Kiwior, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Rice; Sterling, Merino, Martinelli; Havertz

UNAVAILABLE: Saliba (Suspended), Tomiyasu (Injured), Tierney (Injured), Odegaard (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Calafiori (Injured), Timber (Injured), Saka (Injured)

LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS: JOTA MISSES OUT

The injury that Diogo Jota suffered in the first half against Chelsea last week will keep the Portuguese international out of contention here, so his replacement in that match - Darwin Nunez - is poised to start as he did midweek. Alisson and Harvey Elliott are still absent, while Conor Bradley and summer signing Federico Chiesa are doubtful.

After impressing recently, Curtis Jones will be hoping for another start, while Luis Diaz could be preferred to Cody Gakpo on the left side of attack as Slot freshens things up.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez

UNAVAILABLE: Alisson (Injured), Elliott (Injured), Jota (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Bradley (Injured), Chiesa (Injured)

ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL PREDICTION

Liverpool have failed to beat Arsenal in the last four Premier League meetings between the two sides, with Mikel Arteta's side winning two of those, so Arne Slot will be keen to write a new chapter in this particular rivalry.

With Arsenal missing key centre-back William Saliba through suspension and midfielder Martin Odegaard to injury, much may depend on whether Bukayo Saka recovers in time to feature. If he doesn't, they will be significantly weakened and that will open the door for the visitors to claim what would be a huge victory in the title race. Consider Liverpool in the draw no bet market for Sunday's top-of-the-table clash.
