Sudan are one of the weakest sides in the second round of AFCON qualification but they managed to take advantage of the embarrassingly disorganised Ghanaians to record a point in the reverse fixture between these two sides the other day.

SUDAN PREVIEW: STUBBORN SUDAN

Sudan have managed to pick up four points from their opening three AFCON qualifying matches which has given them a genuine chance of qualifying for the 2025 tournament to be hosted in Morocco early next year.

After edging past a poor Niger side by a goal to nil, they restricted Angola to just a 2-1 scoreline before then sharing a goalless draw with Ghana, who are getting humiliated game-by-game at the moment, in Accra.

GHANA PREVIEW: GHASTLY GHANA

With Chris Hughton stepping down for the re-appointment of former Borussia Dortmund assistant Otto Addo, Ghana have failed to win any of their opening three matches in AFCON qualification since a group stage exit at the 2023 tournament which took place earlier this year.

The Black Stars were, as mentioned, held to a disappointing goalless draw at home to Sudan the other day and, prior to that, had drawn in Niger after being beaten at home by Angola during the September international break.

SUDAN TEAM NEWS: NO ISSUES

Sudan have a fully fit and available squad for this one with no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues so, especially after such a good result the other day, they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Mustafa; Agab, Koko, Karshoum, Yousif; Saeed Ahmed, Al Rashed, Khedr; Eisa, Yagoub, Teiri

GHANA TEAM NEWS: CHANGES NEEDED

The Black Stars have genuine stars such as Mohammed Kudus and Inaki Williams but they have continually underperformed in the last 12-18 months or so so may well be tempted to make some changes for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ati-Zigi; Seidu, Djiku, Salisu, Mensah; Owusu, Sulemana; Fatawu, Kudus, Williams; Semenyo

SUDAN VS GHANA PREDICTION

There may have to be a shift on what people and pundits believe Sudan are. Niger are a poor side but there is now an accepted view that the Sudanese are just generally better than them. They frustrated a confused and lacklustre Ghanaian side the other day but did look unlikely to score. If Ghana can get their abundance of quality attackers into the right positions then it has to be said that they must surely win this one.
