THE LOWDOWN
ARGENTINA
- Argentina showed brilliant character to fight back from two goals down against South Africa, salvaging a 2-2 draw, which keeps them in knockout qualification contention, although they’ll need to win here and hope the other game in Group G goes their way in terms of a result.
- A draw between Italy and South Africa, combined with an Argentina victory would be enough to see them through as runners-up, but if South Africa were to triumph, then Argentina would need to better their result from a goal difference perspective.
SWEDEN
- Two games played, two wins, seven goals scored and just one conceded, Sweden have already booked their place in the knockout stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and when taking into account their impressive goal difference, they are almost certainties to finish as Group G winners even if they were to lose here.
- Most recently, Peter Gerhardsson’s side made light work of Italy, thrashing Le Azzurre by five goals to nil, Arsenal defender Amanda Ilestedt bagging a brace, whilst Fridolina Rolfo was on target for the second time in as many matches.

THE PREDICTION
Argentina will need to summon up more of the same fight and resilience shown against South Africa if they are to keep themselves in contention. The reality though, is that this is a formidable Swedish unit, who are looking very much like potential tournament winners and no one would expect them to take their foot off the gas here, even with qualification assured. Sweden will want momentum in their favour going into the next round and are expected to put in another strong performance. Back victory for the European nation.
TIP: SWEDEN TO WIN
