THE PREDICTION

Head coaches Marco Rose and Julian Nagelsmann both have an early opportunity to secure silverware with their respective new clubs as DFB Pokal winners Borussia Dortmund face off against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup. Dortmund played out an enthralling 5-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, which saw star striker Erling Haaland get his league campaign off to a brilliant start with two goals and three assists. Bayern meanwhile, could only draw 1-1 away at Borussia Monchengladbach and will be desperate to bounce back with immediate effect. Recent games between these two sides are usually full of goals with all three encounters last season ending in over 2.5 goals, along with both teams finding the net and the same outcome is expected in this one. In regards to who comes out on top, Dortmund boasts arguably the most influential player on the pitch in Haaland, however Bayern Munich contain the stronger starting XI as a whole and with emotions high following the death of club legend Gerd Muller, Nagelsmann’s men have extra motivation to put in a big performance here and should ultimately triumph.
