Fiorentina Preview: Entertaining I Viola

Vincenzo Italiano departed Fiorentina over the summer to take charge of Bologna with Raffaele Palladino leaving Monza to take charge of I Viola and after a slow-ish start to the 2024/25 Serie A campaign, Fiorentina have been much-improved and they have propelled themselves into the title race.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat of Pafos in the league phase of the UEFA Europa Conference League in midweek. In Serie A they have become rampant and their comfortable 2-0 defeat of Como last weekend was their seven successive victory in Serie A.

Inter Milan Preview: Interesting Inter

Simone Inzaghi’s Internazionale romped to the Scudetto last season, their 20th Italian title and earning the second star upon their badge. The Nerazzurri remain the likeliest winners of Serie A this season but are beginning this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting third in the table, albeit just one point off top spot.

They once again underwhelmed in terms of their performance level in midweek as they edged past RB Leipzig by a goal to nil at San Siro in the UEFA Champions League thanks to a first-half own goal from Castello Lukeba. They did turn on the style a bit domestically last weekend as they annihilated Hellas Verona by five goals to nil at the Bentegodi.

Fiorentina Team News: Palladino adapting

A disciple of Gian Piero Gasperini, Palladino switched Fiorentina to a back three at the start of his tenure but switched back to the four and results have massively picked up.

The hosts are still dealing with one injury concern as Morocco international midfielder Amir Richardson remains sidelined but they have the flexibility and depth to deal with that.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Dodo, Comuzzo, Ranieri, Gosens; Cataldi, Adli; Colpani, Beltran, Bove; Kean

Unavailable: Richardson (Injured)

Questionable:

Inter Milan Team News: No Pavard

Internazionale are dealing with a few issues ahead of this weekend’s trip to Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi with a couple of those key concerns being defensively.

France international Benjamin Pavard is sidelined due to a hamstring injury, whilst Italy international duo Francesco Acerbi and Davide Frattesi are doubts, too.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Carlos Augusto; Thuram, Lautaro Martinez

Unavailable: Pavard (Injured)

Questionable: Di Gennaro (Injured), Acerbi (Injured), Frattesi (Injured)

Fiorentina vs Inter Milan Prediction

Raffaele Palladino is known for an attacking style of football and that has been the case throughout his spell in charge of Fiorentina in these opening few months of the campaign. They now face an Inter side that have been the best team in Italy due to their versatility and ability to play in a variety of ways, most notably on the counter-attack, and that may well help them so a double chance bet in favour of the away team looks a solid bet for this one.

Fiorentina vs Inter Milan Tip: Double chance – Inter to win or draw
