Well! Here we are, finally, at Gameweek 38 of a pretty memorable Premier League season that certainly felt like it happened to us more than happened with us. Fantasy Premier League fans will be pleased to hear that the European Championships have their own game set-up and ready to stress over, and we’ll be covering that extensively in our usual dedicated fantasy section. Former FPL fans who need a rest – I hear you. Here’s to a few weeks without night sweats about missed deadlines, squad rotations, and losing week-on-week to your Nan’s team she didn't want in the first place, unchanged from Gameweek 2 when you forgot the password but still somehow racking up those points.

Team TSZ had a pretty poor Gameweek 37 and slid a minor red arrow back to roughly where they ended up with last week’s slight increase. Their biggest decision last time out was whom to play our of Cesar Azpilicueta and Nat Phillips and, in keeping with the entirety of the 2020-21 season, they got that fantastically wrong.

GAMEWEEK 38 TEAM

Aguero
Vice-captain: Salah
Transfers made: 1 (Kane > Aguero)
Point deductions: 0

The tone on this morning’s Skype call was apathetic at best between Trystan and Alex as they shrugged their way through the damage report of another average week. Gameweek 38 is almost always a total anomaly in terms of form with so few teams having anything to play for so a punt was in the offing. Alex was even more adamant than usual in his idea for a send-off, suggesting swapping Harry Kane for Sergio Aguero as some form of lap of honour for the Argentine as if he has played over 300 games for Team TSZ. The Man City striker has not graced our site team for at least a year, so this seemed an odd gesture. Odd and forthright. Here’s a transcript of their conversation:

“We’ve got to do it… we’ve got to do it… come on Trystan we’ve got to bring him in for his last game… we’ve got to do it-”

“We haven’t got to do it” said Trystan, at one point leaving our view on Skype. Probably to scream. The alternative was to swap out Mason Greenwood, likely to be rested for most of the match with Wolves ahead of the Europa League final, for the likes of Phil Foden or Riyad Mahrez, although both are just as likely to start on the bench for City as they prepare for the Champions League final. The discussion was left there, with various pressers due in from around the league likely to inform some more calculated, measured decisions.

Two hours later I received the go-ahead from Trystan to publish this article. "Operation AGUEROOOOOOO!" (he shouted this in his best Martin Tyler) was a go, though it was probably best not to captain him. Actually, he said, his words slightly muffled by a potential frothing at the corners, let's captain him. Alex punched the air and wheeled around on his new ergonomic office chair, reaching under his desk to produce some banners he'd made during the pressers. Trystan returned from another room wearing a half and half scarf, with both sides reading "Aguero".

"It is quite simply the most desperate move we have ever made and goes against everything I stand for, but it's fun!" he grinned, delirious but happier now than after any previous FPL transfer in his life. I made a note to make contact with the "Aguero reacting to things" meme account on Twitter and then slowly closed the lid of my laptop, leaving the two to dance around their respective living rooms in peace.
