This FPL gameweek felt a lot like the last day of school with so many unexplained absences and you were lucky if you managed to end up with a full starting 11. Considering Team TSZ captained Raheem Sterling, who received his second rest in the space of a few gameweeks, and ended up with 78 points is a stroke of real luck that could well be the turning point in our season. The real reason for this upturn in form? I’ve started writing these round-ups again. This is our third article back and Team TSZ have already overtaken my personal team…clearly this was another tactical masterstroke by Trystan. He knew all too well that I was a danger to his season and so he cunningly distracted me with this former travesty of a team.

Vice captain Mo Salah came up good for TSZ with 30 points and Patrick Bamford proved his doubters wrong yet again with an assured 15 (handily coming off the bench for us). Basically, this gameweek, if you had either of those players you did well to avoid a real malaise. This unpredictable season is getting truly unruly in its fantasy format.

GAMEWEEK 22 TEAM

Formation: 3-4-3
Captain:
Salah
Vice-captain: Cancelo
Transfers made: 2 (Foden > Rodriguez / Mitchell > Cancelo)
Point deductions: ?

Trystan and Alex were buoyant this morning with such a bounty and were eager to make use of their two transfers and £3.6m in the bank. The order of the day was to get a second Man City defender into the side at Phil Foden’s expense, with the City youngster proving too frustrating an option to continue with. With the hope of bringing in Joao Cancelo for Tyrick Mitchell, possibly the upgrade of the season (other than Max Kilman -> Jimmy Dunne, obviously) the guys were looking at a host of mid-range midfielders to plug the gap.

Player of the season contender Jack Grealish, Crystal Palace’s anti-relegation machine Wilfried Zaha and Everton’s James Rodriguez (the smoothest face in football) were the three names put forward here but with some #insidergossip there was only one candidate. Although Trystan and Alex almost missed that because they picked Grealish first, couldn’t afford him and Cancelo, and then accidentally fell upon the best option. Such is their season. The potential for an Everton vs Man City double gameweek coming up (rumoured to be GW24) meant the £0.1m cheaper price-tag for James Rodriguez looked to be an incredible piece of business. If only they had meant it.

Man City face Burnley on Wednesday night, with an aggregate score of 23-1 to Pep Guardiola’s side in six games together since January 2019 and 13-0 in three matches last year. Phil Foden grabbed two goals and an assist from those three games…could he come back to bite Team TSZ?

After Salah's salvation last gameweek as a vice, Trystan and Alex unanimously decided to hand him the big boy armband at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, whose 1-0 defeat of Spurs last time out was, defensively, more about the lack of firepower. No such problem up front for Liverpool all of a sudden could make this a bit of a mauling.

Speaking of mauling, Anne’s Tigers failed to capitalise on defeating us in the cup with a 31-78 hammering in the second round. Not worth their stripes? I’m sorry but I simply do not have the time for a better Tiger-based sign-off.

Thanks for reading, and good luck in the gameweek!
