HOW DID WE GET ON IN DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 26?

GW points: 106
GW average:
75
GW rank:
328,837
Overall rank:
237,960 (▲)

After probably the most disappointing double gameweek in the history of FPL, I was reminded of last week’s closing remark from “Mastermind FC” Trystan:

With his personal team sitting comfortably in the upper echelons of a miserable pyramid, Trystan does not have to care about the meaning of numbers. “More” “less” and the fateful “at least” are just words to him at this stage of his FPL career and Team TSZ should perhaps be looking for a new manager with more real-world experience. I bet Trystan doesn’t even know the cost of an average loaf of Danny Ings these days. He’s lost touch with the rest of us mere mortals. At least!

Team TSZ scored 106 points in the end via a pretty useful Bench Boost +18 and the inclusion of Lucas Digne for a life-saving 14. Overall, they have reached their highest position of the season at 237,960th in the world with back-to-back green arrows and yet it all feels a little meaningless in the grand scheme of things. At least!

It turned out that the guys were right about Gareth Bale’s chances at a stellar double gameweek and yet decided not to include him, opting for a fairly average midfield display from big names like “Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes” – or at least long names.

DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 27 TEAM

Formation: 3-4-3
Captain:
Gundogan
Vice-captain: Kane
Transfers made: 0
Point deductions: 0

This afternoon’s Skype call was a sullen one after a hair-tearing Double Gameweek 26 and an injury blow to Harvey Barnes was the obvious course for first action. The Leicester winger would have been a solid pick for all intents and purposes but these things happen. These things happen once or twice to most people and at least once a week to me. My personal record for injuring players just by transferring them into my team has started to worry me. What else am I capable of?

Trystan’s feeling was that this was a pick-your-battles situation and that the team should roll the transfer but Alex, high off the increased lumber support his new expensive ergonomic chair was providing him, is targeting an all-out assault on the incoming Blank Gameweek 29. The team currently have eight players ready to go in BGW29, which will see only Fulham, Leeds, Brighton, Newcastle, West Ham, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Spurs disappoint us all as opposed to the full complement of 20; but Alex wanted more. Trystan suggested Jesse Lingard, possibly as a dig considering Alex’s deep-rooted distrust of seemingly any English player not called Reece James. It worked, as Alex said “no” at least six times before throwing Jarrod Bowen into the mix as tribute. As you can see, this did not get resolved. The team have rolled the transfer – though I did see the first homework ever handed out in a Team TSZ meeting as Trystan suggested Alex watch JLingz’s recent performances.

Basically, nothing happened. Ezri Konsa coming in for Lucas Digne is the only move of the week and even that seems a potential banana skin after the Frenchman’s strong DGW26. Trystan ended the call by suggesting that the top 100k is our target for the season.

At least.

Thanks for reading, and good luck in the gameweek!
