TEAM NEWS & PREDICTED LINE-UPS

ARSENAL

• Following his late night signing, David Luiz (£6.0m) is expected to walk straight into the starting XI at the expense of Calum Chambers (£4.5m).
• With Hector Bellerin (£5.5m) expected to be side-lined until October, Ainsley Maitland-Niles (£5.0m) would appear set to have a run of starts at right-back. On the opposite flank, Kieran Tierney’s (£5.5m) arrival may spell trouble for Nacho Monreal (£5.0m), though it’ll be the Spaniard who gets the nod on Sunday.

• A late decision will be made on Alexandre Lacazette (£9.5m), who will be assessed ahead of Sunday’s match at Newcastle. The uncertainty surrounding the Frenchman would indicate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) will definitely start. Meanwhile Alex Iwobi’s (£5.5m) departure Thursday night opens up a spot on a flank for Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.0m). Nicolas Pepe (£9.5m) is unlikely to feature from the start following his late return due to the AFCON.

ASTON VILLA

• James Chester (£4.5m) will miss out for Aston Villa this weekend. The defender is likely to be sidelined for another 2-3 weeks. Other than Chester, Dean Smith has a fully fit squad to choose from.

• It will be Tyrone Mings (£4.5m) and one from Bjorn Engels (£4.5m) and Ezri Konsa (£4.5m) to start at centre half on Saturday. Konsa was nursing an injury for the last preseason friendly, which may have just have put Engels on pole position for the spot.

• Although Douglas Luis (£4.5m) was passed fit after returning to the club earlier this week, it is unlikely Smith will throw him straight into the starting line-up.

• Anwar El Ghazi (£5.5m) has overcome his ankle injury and is set to start on the left hand side of midfield while new signing Wesley Moraes (£6.0m) will earn his competitive debut upfront.

BOURNEMOUTH

• Speaking in his press conference, Eddie Howe has declared both Steve Cook (£5.0m) and Charlie Daniels (£4.5m) fit for the season opener: “Steve Cook and Charlie Daniels have been out for a period of time but have come back looking very good. They’ve come back in and really given the squad a lift, which is good."
• Long-term absentees Dan Gosling (£5.0m), Junior Stanislas (£6.0m), Simon Francis (£4.5m) and Lewis Cook (£5.0m) have been joined on the injury bench by David Brooks (£6.5m) and summer signing Lloyd Kelly (£4.5m). Brooks in particular is a blow having forced his way into the first team last season. He is likely to be replaced by Jordan Ibe (£5.0m).
• Bournemouth have been enjoying a four-way battle for the No. 1 spot in goal throughout the summer. Asmir Begovic (£4.5m), Artur Boruc (£4.5m), Mark Travers (£4.5m) and Aaron Ramsdale (£4.5m) have all been used evenly throughout preseason. As such there is little to suggest which of the four will start in net this weekend, though Howe did say he would have no hesitation in sticking one of his younger keepers in.

BRIGHTON

• Brighton face Watford on the opening day of the season for the second year running. Graham Potter is set to be without three players — Jose Izquierdo (£5.5m), Yves Bissouma (£5.0m) and Ezequiel Schelotto (not in FPL) — when he names his first 18-man Premier League squad on Saturday afternoon.
• Having experimented with multiple formations in preseason the new manager seems to have settled on 3-4-3, having used this line-up in their final two warm up matches. While Dan Burn (£4.5m) has been playing as the third centre-half alongside Shane Duffy (£5.0m) and Lewis Dunk (£4.5m), it will only be a matter of time before summer signing Adam Webster (£4.5m) takes his place at the back.
• At the front end of the pitch the evergreen Glenn Murray (£6.0m) is favourite to start, with Jurgen Locadia (£5.5m) and Leandro Trossard (£6.0m) flanking either side of him. Murray’s place will eventually come under threat from Neal Maupay (£6.0m) but given the former Brentford man only signed on Tuesday, Murray’s spot looks secure for GW1.

BURNLEY

• Charlie Taylor (£4.5m) is in danger of missing out on the opening match of the season. Despite playing 90 minutes in a behind doors friendly midweek, Dyche doesn’t feel the left-back is 100% over his groin injury. If Taylor fails to make the team then he is likely to be replaced by summer signing Erik Pieters (£4.5m). Dyche also ruled out Robbie Brady (£5.5m) who has a hairline fracture on his rib.
• On a more positive note both James Tarkowski (£5.0m) and Kevin Long (£4.5m) have been passed fit for the match at the weekend. The former should return to partner Ben Mee (£5.0m) in place of Ben Gibson (£4.0m) in the Burnley backline. Having started the final preseason match of the season, Nick Pope (£4.5m) looks to have wrestled the number one jersey away from Joe Hart (£4.5m).
• Up front it will be two from Chris Wood (£6.5m), Ashley Barnes (£6.5m) and summer signing Jay Rodriguez (£6.0m) for the opening match against Southampton. Chris Wood has been in phenomenal form preseason having found the net nine times and looks assured of a starting spot. The second striker place is less clear. Though it was Rodriguez who got the nod in their last preseason game, Dyche made it clear that there could well be changes from that line-up and the one he starts with Saturday.

CHELSEA

• Only Cesar Azpilicueta (£6.0m) would appear to have definitely survived with a starting berth from last season's back four. Emerson (£5.5m) has clocked up more preseason minutes than Marcos Alonso (£6.5m) and is favourite for the left back slot. The injury to Antonio Rudgier (£6.0m) and the transfer of David Luiz (£6.0m) has left Andreas Christensen (£5.0m) and Kurt Zouma (£5.0m) as seemingly the first choice centre-backs at Stamford Bridge.
• Having seemingly settled on a 4-2-3-1 formation, Mateo Kovacic (£5.5m) and Jorginho (£5.0m) will start at Old Trafford as N’Golo Kante (£5.0m) continues his return from injury.
• With Willian (£7.0m) still nursing a minor knock, Christian Pulisic (£7.5m) and Pedro (£7.0m) are set to start out wide, while Ross Barkley (£6.0m) is most likely to start the season in the No. 10 role. His place in the side will have to be monitored as the season progresses, with Mason Mount (£6.0m) looking good in preseason.
• Having started the final two games of preseason, Tammy Abraham (£7.0m) will be given first chance at nailing down the lone striker position.

CRYSTAL PALACE

• Palace are suffering from a few injuries at the back as Hodgson revealed James Tomkins (£4.5m), Mamadou Sakho (£4.5m) and Jeffrey Schlupp (£4.5m) are still not back to full fitness and therefore will miss out on GW1. The absence of two centre-backs should pave the way for budget option Martin Kelly (£4.0m) to get at least one start at the beginning of the season, though Gary Cahill (£4.5m) may be thrown straight into the starting XI. With Schlupp out, Max Meyer (£5.5m) looks likely to continue on the left of midfield.
• After his failed summer move away from Selhurst Park, Hodgson has made it clear that he expects Wilfred Zaha (£7.0m) to get on with things and has said the midfielder will be available for the match against Everton. Cheikhou Kouyaté (£5.0m), and Jordan Ayew (£5.0m) are also available for the match-day squad following their involvement in the AFCON.

EVERTON

• Marco Silva has confirmed Fabian Delph (£5.5m) will miss the trip to Crystal Palace after being withdrawn with a muscular issue during last weekends' friendly against Werder Bremen. Leighton Baines (£5.0m) has starting working with the rest of the team but may well miss out on Saturday also.
• After failing to get a deal through for Marcos Rojo (£5.0m) on deadline day, it will likely be Yerry Mina (£5.5m) who partners Michael Keane (£5.5m) at centre-half for the foreseeable future.
• The summer signings further cemented Lucas Digne (£6.0m) as the defender of choice from the Toffees. While the left back is nailed on for starts this season, his opposite fullback, Seamus Coleman (£5.5m), now has a real threat for his position in Djibril Sidibé (£5.5m).
• After the loss of Idrissa Gueye (£5.0m) in the summer, Silva has spoken of the importance of Morgan Schneiderlin (£4.5m) this season. The Frenchman is likely to take Gueye’s spot in the starting XI in the short term.
• New summer recruits Alex Iwobi (£6.0m) and Moise Kean (£7.0m) are unlikely to be involved from the start but are threats moving forward to the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m), Theo Walcott (£6.5m) and Bernard (£6.5m) for minutes on the pitch.

LEICESTER

• The big decision Rodgers faces for their first match of the season is who to replace Harry Maguire (£5.5m) with at the centre of his defence. While Jonny Evans (£5.0m) is a certain starter, Caglar Soyuncu (£4.5m) seems to have jumped ahead of Wes Morgan (£4.5m) in the pecking order, as the Turkish defender started against Atalanta.
• The manager has experimented with a number of different formations preseason but seems to have settled on either 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-4-1 depending on the opposition. Either formation, new signing Ayoze Perez (£6.5m) has played well and given the outlay for him is a good bet to start.
• Rodgers has waxed lyrical over new signing Dennis Praet (£5.5m): "Dennis Praet is an outstanding player who fits the profile of what we want. We’ve got a lot of good defensive midfield players so I felt we needed two attacking players. Youri we were able to get, then Dennis we tracked. We’re delighted to get him in." While the Belgian is unlikely to start GW1, his situation is one worth monitoring.

LIVERPOOL

• After missing all of pre-season, Jürgen Klopp has said there is a chance that Sadio Mane (£11.5m) could face Norwich at the weekend: "He looks fit. Yesterday was the first session with the team. He looks absolutely OK. Yes, he's an option.” It will likely come down to the Senegalese forward and Divock Origi (£6.5m) for the start.

• At the back, it seems to be between Joe Gomez (£5.5m) and Joel Matip (£5.5m) for who will partner Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) at the centre of Liverpool’s defence. It was Gomez who got the nod in the Community Shield and would appear to be in prime position to take the position again in GW1.

• Both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (£5.5m) and Naby Keita (£5.5m) are continuing to build back up to full fitness so both are more likely to be involved from the bench as opposed to the starting line-up. James Milner (£5.5m) has trained as normal so is fit.

MAN CITY

• Following his late return from the Copa America, Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) has seen no preseason playing time for Man City and was left on the bench in the recent Community Shield win over Liverpool. It was Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) who started down the middle in that game, before Leroy Sane (£9.5m) went off injured and was replaced by Gabriel Jesus (£9.0m).
• Speaking of Sane the manager confirmed the German will be out of action for a number of months: “Hopefully, in February or March, he will come back with us.” The absence of Sane will likely mean more playing time for Riyad Mahrez (£8.5m) over the next few months, who Guardiola confirmed is fit to play after being left out of the Community Shield.
• After missing the Community Shield victory, Aymeric Laporte (£6.5m) has returned to training this week and is likely to take the spot of either John Stones (£5.5m) or Nicolás Otamendi (£5.5m).
• New signing João Cancelo (£5.5m) will not feature in the match against West Ham with Pep stating “He only arrived two days ago" and therefore has not had enough time with the group. He is a danger to both Kyle Walker (£6.0m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.5m) moving forward.
• The City boss also waxed lyrical over Rodrigo Hernandez (£5.5m): "Everyday I’m more convinced this deal will be one of the best this Club has done in the last few years. He’ll be an incredible midfielder." With Fernandinho (£5.5m) another who was late back following the Copa America, there seems to be no need to rush him into the starting XI, given Pep’s words on Rodri.

MAN UTD

• OGS has confirmed new summer signing Harry Maguire (£5.5m) is ready to start on Sunday: “Yeah, Harry is ready to play. I am sure he will put himself up, when I ask him on Sunday morning, if he is available, because he has played many games for Leicester over the pre-season. He has trained well and he has looked sharp when he has been here.” He is likely to be partnered by Victor Lindelof (£5.5m) at centre-back.
• Solskjaer has also spoken about Mason Greenwood (£4.5m) and the opportunities he will be afforded in the first team this season: "You do have players that you think are going to make an impact and Mason Greenwood's pathway would have been a lot more difficult, of course, if we had another forward there. So, for me, I believe that Mason's going to be playing and involved a lot, and, when he is, he'll score goals.”
• The manager also laid rest to any fears over Paul Pogba’s (£8.5m) fitness stating, “He is available. All of the boys are fit.”

NEWCASTLE

• New manager Steve Bruce will be without three players for his first game in charge at the weekend. DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Dwight Gayle (not in FPL) and Christian Atsu (£5.5m) are unavailable, however Bruce confirmed everybody else is okay, meaning Matt Ritchie (£5.5m) would now appear to be fit for the season opener.
• Throughout preseason Bruce has implemented a 3-5-2 / 5-3-2 formation depending on his opponents. While the majority of places in the starting XI seem to be sewn up, there is a spot still up for grabs as the third centre-back along with Jamaal Lascelles (£4.5m) and Fabian Schar (£5.0m). Both Federico Fernández (£4.5m) and Paul Dummett (£4.5m) are vying for the spot with Fernandez starting the final preseason match of the season.

NORWICH

• Daniel Farke has confirmed that Timm Klose (£4.5m) is out of tomorrow's game but the manager "hope(s) to have him back for Newcastle." Along with Klose Christoph Zimmermann (£4.5m), Alexander Tettey (£4.5m) and Louis Thompson (not in FPL) have also been ruled out. The game against Liverpool also comes too soon for Ibrahim Amadou (£4.5m).

• With Klose unavailable, budget priced defender Grant Hanley (£4.0m) could be given a run out at centre-back. Hanley started and captained the club in Klose’s absence in their final preseason matchup against Toulouse.

SHEFFIELD UTD

• Chris Wilder has reported he has no injuries ahead of Sheffield Utd’s opener on Saturday. This is excellent news for potential owners of Jack O’Connell (£4.5m) who will likely regain his starting place after missing out on the final few games of preseason through injury.

• After registering more minutes than anyone else in preseason, Wilder has confirmed that John Lundstram (£4.0m) has a part to play in the upcoming season. Given the words of the manager, Lundstram represents an excellent out of position budget option for the upcoming season.

• New £20m signing Oli McBurnie (£6.0m) will be pushing for starts from the get go but will likely have to settle for a place on the bench in GW1 as Wilder looks set to keep faith in David McGoldrick (£5.5m) and Callum Robinson (£5.5m), as the pair have been performing nicely in preseason.

SPURS

• Heung-Min Son (£9.5m) and Juan Foyth (£5.0m) are both suspended following their respective red cards at the end of last season. The absence of Son should allow Lucas Moura (£7.5m) a chance to carry his sparkling preseason form into the new campaign. Foyth had been the favourite to fill the right back slot left after Kieran Tripper’s (not in FPL) move to Spain. With Foyth and Serge Aurier (£5.0m) out, Kyle Walker-Peters (£5.0m) is in line for the start.
• Dele Alli (£8.5m) will be injured for the first few weeks of the season but there is good news for Ben Davies (£5.5m), Eric Dier (£5.0m) and Victor Wanyama (£5.0m) who have all returned to training this week.
• New signing Ryan Sessegnon (£5.5m) will play no part in the season opener due to a hamstring injury sustained during the summer with the England Under-21 national team. Sessegnon is undergoing assessment and working through a rehabilitation programme.
• While deadline day signing Giovani Lo Celso (£7.5m) may have to wait for his full debut, Tanguy Ndombele (£6.0m) has played enough in preseason to indicate that come Saturday he’ll be in from the start.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Southampton have no reported injury concerns ahead of their season opener against Burnley.

• Manager Ralph Hassenhuttl has admitted he faces some difficult decisions as to who makes the starting XI and who is just a squad player. New signings Ché Adams (£6.0m) and Moussa Djenepo (£5.5m) are in contention to make their competitive debuts, though it is more likely Adams gets the nod: “Ché Adams had the big advantage that he was here from the beginning of pre-season and that helps him a lot. For Moussa, it is a little bit more difficult and it will take time to bring him into the squad.”

• Over Southampton’s final two preseason games the manager may have given us a few big clues over who will start the first game of the season with ten players starting both games. In fact the only place that appears to be up in the air is at centre half between Maya Yoshida (£4.5m) and Jack Stephens (£4.5m), with the pair splitting starts in preseason.

WATFORD

• Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) has been passed fit and looks likely to start for the Hornets this weekend: "He is perfect," said Gracia. "He had a little problem and it was two weeks ago. He's had time to recover and has been able to train with the team from the beginning of the week. He's ready."

• Roberto Pereyra (£6.0m) is also available for Gracia but is unlikely to play a full 90 minutes on Saturday: “Roberto was ready from the beginning but he needed time as he came late," said the Head Coach. "He is ready but he just needs time because this is only his second week of pre-season. He's not in his best physical condition but he can still help the team by playing some minutes."

• Nathaniel Chalobah (£4.5m), Adalberto Peñaranda (not in FPL), Domingos Quina (£4.5m) and Dimitri Foulquier (not in FPL) are all set to miss out. "Foulquier has a problem in his calf because he picked up a knock," said Gracia. "Peñaranda is training but not with the team. Domingos has a muscle problem and Chalo needs some time to recover after the work he has done in pre-season. Next week they will be ready." Gracia also confirmed that new signing Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) will not play any part this week.

• New record signing Ismaïla Sarr (£6.5m) is another that is unlikely to be involved at the weekend. Having only signed on deadline day and with the player involved in the AFCON during the summer, a bedding in period is likely required. It will be interesting to see which position Gracia decides to unleash the Senegalese forward. On the player he had this to say: "He's a player with big offensive skills," said Gracia. "He can play both sides: right, left, and as a striker sometimes. He is very strong physically, very fast and he's very good in the spaces.

WEST HAM

• Only Mark Noble (£5.0m) is set to miss out on the first game of the season with Pellegrini declaring, "For the moment we have Mark Noble still injured and won't be available, but all the other players are fit." Jack Wilshere (£5.0m) is set to replace Noble in the starting XI, while Pellegrini declaring all other players fit is great news for owners of Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m).

• Knowing which of the many Hammers’ midfield options will start this season is going to be difficult. However, given Pellegrini has started the quintet of Wilshere, Manuel Lanzini (£6.5m), Felipe Anderson (£7.0m), Pablo Fornals (£6.5m) and Declan Rice (£5.0m) three times this preseason, they appear to be primed to start GW1.

• The manager also shed some light on the role of new signing Albian Ajeti (£6.0m): “If you compare our squad this season with the last season, we lost three strikers,” he continued. “We bought first Sebastien Haller (£7.5m), and now Albian Ajeti. He’s a good striker to compete with Javier Hernandez (£6.5m) and Michail Antonio (£7.0m) for that position.” Despite this it will likely be Haller that begins the season as the lone frontman.

WOLVES

• The midweek Europa League tie marked a return to action for Matt Doherty (£6.0m) and Raul Jimenez (£7.5m) as both returned from injury. With a win comfortably in the books the pair, along with Diogo Jota (£6.5m), were brought off early in the second half.
• Both Jonny Castro (£5.0m) and Ruben Neves (£5.5m) were handed rests midweek and are expected to be recalled to the starting XI for the Wolves’ Premier League opener against Leicester.
