FPL season comparisons – Mo Salah vs Sadio Mane

Liverpool sit 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and it has been the attacking returns of midfielders Mo Salah (£12.7m) and Sadio Mane (£12.4m) that have gone a long way to see them wind up where they are. The two have scored a mammoth 30 Premier League goals and 15 Premier League assists between them. However, which player has proven the better investment over the course of the season?

Salah has proven himself as the king of Anfield this season, with 14 of his 16 league goals over the course of the campaign coming at Liverpool's home ground. He also has six assists, accruing a total of 186 FPL points this season. He currently stands at £0.2m more expensive than his original price.

Mane hasn't scored as many goals as Salah, having netted 14 goals so far this season. However, the Senegalese star has three more assists, laying on nine goals for his teammates. He has racked up 175 FPL points this season, but has played 166 minutes less than Salah.

There is little to separate the two, with only 11 FPL points between them, but their original base prices tell a different story. Whilst Salah was priced at an expensive £12.5m to start the season, Mane was priced at a cheaper £11.5m. This suggests that over the course of the season, Mane has proven more consistent than Salah and represents better value than the Egyptian.

Verdict: Sadio Mane
