FPL season comparisons – Kevin De Bruyne vs Sadio Mane

The players in the spotlight here represent two of the best value midfielders of this season's Fantasy Premier League. Man City's Kevin De Bruyne (£10.6m) and Liverpool's Sadio Mane (£12.4m) are ranked second and third respectively on the FPL top points scorers list for midfielders and for good reason. The pair have acquired a mammoth 353 FPL points between them over the course of the campaign.

De Bruyne has proven destructive, pulling the strings in the centre of Man City's midfield. With creativity in bundles, along with the license to roam forward, the Belgian has proven unplayable at times this season. A whopping 18 assists so far had put him on course to comfortably break the record in a Premier League season. He also has eight goals and currently sits on a total of 178 FPL points.

Whilst Mane has only three points less than De Bruyne he does boast more goals, having scored 14 times in the Premier League so far this season. The Liverpool midfielder also boasts nine assists and most importantly has played 71 minutes minutes less than De Bruyne. A goal for Mane within those 71 minutes, would put him above De Bruyne on total FPL points scored throughout the season so far.

What about prices? De Bruyne started the season priced at a modest £9.5m and has proven arguably the biggest midfield bargain of the season. Mane was priced at £2.0m more expensive than the City star at £11.5m. Whilst Mane has had an outstanding season, for De Bruyne to be putting up the FPL numbers he has at a base price of £9.5m is truly unbelievable. He has to be considered one of the top three best value players in this season's FPL and for that reason, gets the nod over Mane here.

Verdict: Kevin De Bruyne
