FPL season comparisons – Jamie Vardy

Just because the Fantasy Premier League season has been postponed doesn't mean we can't continue the 'Vardy Party', as we compare the statistics of Jamie Vardy (£9.6m) from the first 29 gameweeks of the 2018/19 Premier League season compared to the 29 gameweeks played this campaign.

It's fair to say that the Leicester forward did not have the best time of it last season. Stifled under the more negative style of play of former manager Claude Puel, Vardy struggled to make the impact he would have liked. It was the arrival of Brendan Rodgers from Celtic that saw Vardy get back to doing what he does best, with ten goals after 29 gameweeks last season in stark contrast to his league-high 19 this season. Vardy averages over 2 FPL points per game more than he did at this point last season and the former England international has also supplied his owners with seven 10+ point hauls compared to just one at this stage last campaign.

It's clear that this year Vardy has taken his game to the next level under Rodgers. The Premier League's top goalscorer has shone this season from an FPL perspective at a bargain price of £9.0m. He'll be hoping the season gets back underway soon so he can finish strong as his side aim to secure Champions League football for whenever that next takes place.

Verdict: 2019/20 Season
