FPL Gameweek 9 – head-to-head comparisons: Patrick Bamford vs Callum Wilson

Leeds forward Patrick Bamford (£6.0m) continued his excellent scoring run in this season's Premier League despite a difficult afternoon for his side in Gameweek 8. Bamford netted his seventh goal of the season and his fourth in the last three games as Leeds went down 4-1 to Crystal Palace. It was a triple nightmare game week for Newcastle's Callum Wilson (£6.6m) however, as not only did he fail to get on the scoresheet, the Magpies were beaten 2-0 by Southampton and Wilson was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury.

Wilson will go into Gameweek 9 as a serious doubt due to that hamstring issue as Newcastle are set to host Chelsea. Bamford meanwhile, is sure to line up for Leeds as they welcome Arsenal to Elland Road. With Leeds consistently a threat going forward along with Wilson's injury worries, we have to play it safe and favour Bamford here. Should Wilson be passed fit for Gameweek 9 however, he could prove a fruitful option considering he already has four goals this season at St James' Park.
