FPL Gameweek 9 – head-to-head comparisons: Mo Salah vs Raheem Sterling

Mo Salah (£12.4m) has eight goals, one assist and 67 FPL points to his name already this season. Four of those goals have come from the penalty spot and the Egyptian is well on the way to once again ending the campaign as one of the highest FPL points scorers. Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) has failed to gain an attacking return in his last three league games despite having chances to do so. He has two goals and one assist so far this season.

Next up for Salah and Liverpool is Leicester at Anfield, whilst for Sterling and Man City, they travel to North London to face Spurs away. However, both players may not feature for two reasons. Firstly, Salah is confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 whilst away with Egypt and as such will have to self isolate as appropriate. Sterling meanwhile, is thought to be struggling with a calf injury and missed out on playing England's UEFA Nations League game vs Belgium during the international break. Having said that, Sterling will likely have a chance of being fit for Man City in Gameweek 9 so we have no choice but to pick him here. Realistically though, we'd look to avoid both!

Verdict: Raheem Sterling
