Kevin De Bruyne (£11.5m) went from hero to zero in Gameweek 8, whilst Bruno Fernandes (£10.5m) remained firmly a hero for Man Utd. After assisting the equalising goal in Man City's 1-1 draw against Liverpool, De Bruyne missed the opportunity to put City ahead from the penalty spot and guarantee himself a double figure FPL haul. Fernandes meanwhile, racked up the points once again vs Everton, with two goals and an assist giving him 17 FPL points for the gameweek as Man Utd. Neither of those two goals coincidentally came from the penalty spot.

De Bruyne will look to bounce back in Gameweek 9 as Man City face a tough trip to Spurs. Man Utd have a much easier game on paper at home to West Brom. However, no game is to be taken lightly and Albion pushed Spurs to the limit in Gameweek 8, falling to a late 0-1 defeat. Despite it, when you take into account Fernandes' cheaper pricetag along with his favourable fixtures and control over set pieces. It is clear that despite De Bruyne's class, that Fernandes is the better value pick for Gameweek 9.

Verdict: Bruno Fernandes
