FPL Gameweek 9 – head-to-head comparisons: Harry Kane vs Jamie Vardy

Both these forwards were on the scoresheet (again) in Gameweek 8 albeit at very different times in their respective games. It took Harry Kane (£11.0m) until the 88th minute to break West Brom's resistance and net the winning goal for Spurs at the Hawthorns. As for Jamie Vardy (£10.1m), it took just 15 minutes for him to score a penalty in Leicester's 1-0 win over Wolves. He could have had two goals from the spot, but saw a second penalty saved by Rui Patricio.

Spurs host Man City in Gameweek 9, whilst Leicester are away to Liverpool. Two difficult fixtures but you could argue that both of these forwards are fixture proof. Vardy is looking ominously close to a return to his destructive best. However, Kane is simply on a different level to any other player at present. Having not scored less than five FPL points since Gameweek 2 he is as close to a safe pick as you'd wish to have in Gameweek 9 and hence we have no choice but to go with the current England international
