FPL Gameweek 9 – head-to-head comparisons: Dominic Calvert-Lewin vs Jamie Vardy

Yet another attacking return for Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.8m) in Gameweek 8 saw him take his FPL tally for the season up to 57 points. For once however, it wasn't a goal that Calvert-Lewin scored. Instead it was an assist, his first of the season to add to his eight goals already scored, albeit in a losing effort as Everton went down 1-3 to Man Utd. Whilst Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) scored the winning goal for Leicester in their victory over Wolves. It could have been so much more from an FPL perspective, with Vardy missing a penalty to go with one he had already scored. This saw him wind up with an overall total of four FPL points, a disappointing return by his high standards.

Calvert Lewin and Everton travel to Fulham in Gameweek 9, whilst Vardy and Leicester are away at Liverpool. Despite the Premier League champions being in the midst of a defensive injury crisis, Anfield will still prove a difficult place for Vardy to and score at. Compare that to Fulham, who sit 17th in the table having conceded eight goals in four home games and we're leaning towards the cheaper Calvert-Lewin in this head-to-head.

Verdict: Dominic Calvert-Lewin
