FPL Gameweek 9 – head-to-head comparisons: Che Adams vs Ollie Watkins

Southampton's Che Adams (£5.9m) showed that life without Danny Ings may not be all that bad for the Saints, as he netted his third goal of the season in Gameweek 8. The former Birmingham man has now picked up 31 FPL points over the last four gameweeks. For Aston Villa, Ollie Watkins (£6.1m) was the star of the show against Arsenal as he scored twice and accrued 13 FPL points. Watkins now has six league goals this season and is providing his side with the goalscoring threat at the top end of the pitch that they didn't have last season beyond Jack Grealish.

Watkins faces Brighton at Villa Park next up, whilst Adams and Southampton travel to Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo's side have conceded just two goals in their five league games, with both of them from set pieces (one penalty and one direct free kick). This looks set to be an exceedingly difficult examination for Adams and with Watkins facing the substantially easier fixture on paper as Brighton have kept just two clean sheets so far this season, we are picking the Villa forward in this head-to-head.

Verdict: Ollie Watkins
