FPL Gameweek 9 – head-to-head comparisons: Bruno Fernandes vs Gareth Bale

The excellent away form of Bruno Fernandes (£10.6m) continued in Gameweek 8 as the Man Utd midfielder scored twice and laid on a last minute assist in his side's 1-3 win over Everton. At the Hawthorns, Gareth Bale (£9.5m) made his first start following returning to Spurs although he was brought off without an attacking return to his name after 77 minutes in their 0-1 win against West Brom. This appearances bodes well for his fitness however, suggesting that he could be starting regularly in the Premier League post the international break.

Man Utd take their turn facing West Brom in Gameweek 9 as they welcome the Baggies to Old Trafford. Spurs host Man City, whom they beat 2-0 in the same fixture last season. West Brom however, are in dire straits having conceded 17 goals so far this season, the joint most of any Premier League club. With Fernandes on all set pieces, this bodes well for him despite his sub par home record this season so far from an FPL perspective. Bale is perhaps not quite looking his sharpest as of yet this campaign due to lack of match starts and we're sticking with the tried and tested Fernandes for Gameweek 9.
