Thiago Silva (£5.5m) made it three clean sheets in four league starts for Chelsea in Gameweek 7, as they brushed aside Burnley 0-3 at Turf Moor. The Brazilian central defender now has 20 FPL points from 342 minutes of Premier League football so far this season. We assess his points potential in Gameweek 8 with that of Everton's Lucas Digne (£6.1m), who didn't feature in Gameweek 7 due to a suspension.
Chelsea host a struggling Sheffield Utd in Gameweek 8, whilst Everton face a Man Utd side looking to bounce back after their defeat over Arsenal last weekend. Silva clearly holds the higher clean sheet potential, however Digne offers perhaps a higher attacking outlet with his set pieces and marauding runs down the left hand side. Ultimately though, Silva's £0.6m cheaper price tag makes him a more shrewd investment from an FPL value perspective. He will prove a threat in the box from set pieces and with Chelsea's defensive form at presence, has a great chance of bringing home a healthy points haul for his owners in Gameweek 8.
Verdict: Thiago Silva
