FPL Gameweek 8 – head-to-head comparisons: Heung-Min Son vs Kevin De Bruyne

Both Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) and Heung-Min Son (£9.7m) have performed well for their respective clubs this season, though it is De Bruyne who at first look is the standout option. The top scoring player in FPL, the Belgian has scored or assisted in every match he has started so far this season. City face Wolves at home in Gameweek 8, a place where De Bruyne has yet to return less than 11 points. Son meanwhile has registered an attacking return in each of his last four matches and also found the net midweek against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Spurs face Brighton this week, as Son will look to keep his good form going.

The big news from Man City this week is the potential injury to Kevin De Bruyne. The midfielder suffered a groin strain against Everton last weekend and was left out of the squad for the Champions League tie against Dinamo Zagreb. Guardiola has been very non-committal over his availability for the match against Wolves this week. Son meanwhile has no concerns over his fitness and is much more likely to play at the weekend. Given his current form, if De Bruyne is passed fit before the start of the weekend then the choice would be him, however with uncertainty surrounding the Belgian, Son is the safe option.

Verdict: Heung-Min Son
